What a nice surprise, The Old Three Crowns in Bolton has a secret garden. They've converted the back car park into an outdoor seating area. They've laid down fake grass, and put up a sturdy shelter covered in blue tarpaulin and added a number of picnic tables. They already had a small brick courtyard which has 2 large umbrella's covering a number of tables but this extra space provides much more seating. I was surprised just how many people it could hold. Absolutely tasty, fresh home cooked food. I had the cheese and onion pie which was the best i have had. Loads of cheese and lovely flaky pastry! My auntie had the steak and ale pie. It was in a very deep oven dish lots of meat and gravy. Proper chips not frozen chips. Will go again. As the staff were really nice and friendly too which always makes a difference. They do a special offer on sunday roast dinners too...
