Ship & Royal — Restaurant in Borough of Fylde

Having been a Lytham local resident from 2020-2022, I did manage to stumbled into and out of "THE SHIP & ROYAL" on a fair few occasions! Opps!! usually minus something like a coat, a bag, slip on shoes left after changing into heels. My belongings always well protected and safe tucked away behind the bar, I am well able to say that this is the most trust worthy pub on the planet!!

No drama, sorted in 5 seconds flat with any issues, Sarah, Dave, Kimmy and the team will look after you, laugh with you and even accommodate your pooch, (what about my cat baba) this home from home pub/restaurant will treat you as you would be treated in your home town!! Thank you! I love this pub, for the staff, the prosecco pricer per bottle is amazing, especially on a FRIDAY suckers! Lytham is high end prices, The Ship & Royal is non judgemental, non flouncey or snobby over priced fine dinning, its TOP NOTCH compared to other Lytham public houses where you need to take out a small loan for a large glass of vino collapso! The pub location is fantastic as right smack-Bang in the middle of Lytham high street, food is always to the best standard too, I know my food as I am a trained retired chef, simple, fresh, tastey, (Gamon, Egg n Chips) was my go to after a heavy night on the POP! My favourite sound!

Smoking area out the back is sufficient, great vibe of people, youngsters playing pool, people watching sports, it is a very well oiled, well ran, tight ship!!!!!

Poor service. Ordered the 3 course senior meal x2. Advised there was a 40 minute wait pre ordering. As we weren't in a rush that was fine even though the bar was not busy. Food arrived about 30 minutes later, 1st and 2nd course served within a reasonable time. However our dessert after about 40 minutes didn't appear. My friend went to the bar and was told it wouldn't be long. After about 20 minutes I enquired at the bar as to where it was to be told that the chef was dealing with an order and it would be out soon. After another 20 minutes we left the pub not having had our dessert. There was about 10 people in the pub including just 4 who were dining. We had to return to the pub as we had arranged to meet friends there. I enquired at the bar regarding our desserts and the amount of time we had wasted waiting for it! The bar person was unapologetic and dismissive. I returned to join friends there was about 10 of us. 5 minutes later the bar person came over to the table and slat 2 pond coins on the table in front of everyone as a refund for the 2 desserts! A beautiful historic pub in a central location on the main shopping street. Stopped here for lunch on a day out in Lytham and it could not have been more convenient - the bus stops right outside! The staff were really welcoming, cheerful and friendly. It's large and spacious inside, beautifully decorated with a variety of seating. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Dogs are welcome. They do good traditional pub meals, plenty of choice and they also do a two course deal for seniors with smaller helpings. Ordered the chicken and ham hock pie with buttered mash, broccoli and a jug of rich gravy. Did not have to wait long and the food was hot, the pie had a lovely flavour (there was wholegrain mustard in it) and portions were satisfying. Had a triple chocolate brownie and ice-cream for afters and it was delicious! Extensive drinks menu too (Merlot very reasonable at £5.29 for a glass).
