Having been to Zest a couple of times for Lunch over the last couple of weeks so we decided to come for Breakfast. I have to say I was massively disappointed. For a £10 Breakfast you are massively overcharged, no hash browns, no beans and absolutely nothing special on the plate (although the mushrooms were quite good). This however is not why Zest deserves a 1 star review from me. We had a problem with the eggs which somehow were undercooked on the top and burnt on the bottom. We have requested new eggs which came out almost immediately, always a worrying sign. These eggs were so undercooked on the top that you had to cut through a layer of slime. We have told the waitress about how bad the eggs are who I know has told a more senior member of staff (I actually overheard the conversation).
We have then proceeded to be ignored by everyone but the new waitress. I was given the bill around 10 minutes ago (before I've actually started writing this review) and I'm still sat here, not been spoken too, my card sat on the table next to my bill. This might be acceptable if it was busy but its not and I'm actually sat next to the kitchen window so the staff can clearly see me.
I'm afraid Zest I won't be coming back.
Edit: eventually what appeared to be the manager came over with the card machine. When I've explained the situation she has blamed it on the new member of staff and given me a £5 off. Feel this is unfair as I actually heard the new member of staff tell...

Sadly this was not our experience on Friday, we called on for breakfast/brunch and we shown to a table, we were served quickly and our drinks arrived promptly. My friend ordered the smashed avocado dish with additional bacon and poached eggs. Unfortunately her eggs were not cooked and the egg white was totally uncooked.when she explained this to the waitress she removed the plate with no conversation and we assumed she was taking it to get the eggs replaced. When her meal arrived back the egg had been replaced but the remainder of the dish was cold. The waitress didn’t offer an apology and just placed the plate down with the comment. “This is the plate that was returned” and walked away without checking if she had any cutlery or if there was anything further she required. We then had to ask for some cutlery from another waitress. The venue was very busy but the focused seemed to be more on get them in and out as quickly as possible and our visit felt very rushed without the usual attentive service. I feel frustrated on leaving about the service we received and lack of an apology for the poor service and to add insult there is a discretionary 10% service charge which I regret not having removed as to the poor service we received. Read moreAbsolutely disgusting service I came with my mother who is elderly and struggles to get out but as it was her birthday I thought I would try zest in Lytham. Get there after traveling 30mins in the car from outside of preston and basically we were ignored until I got the female waitress attention after asking 2/3 times for any seats.
Finally greeted with a huge disinterest towards us we sat down ordered breakfast which was average at best. Came to pay the bill and I asked the lady do you have a tip box yes we do she replied. Gave her a tip not even a bloody thank you!!! And to top it off I was charged a "service charge at discretion" are you joking me?! Didn't even tell me about a service charge if I knew of this I would of taken my money back and kept the tip and I would never of step for into a place like this I wouldn't of even bothered. A disgraceful place over priced food 2.50 for a small pot of beans? I know its lytham but come one you probably got the beans out of a 5 year old tin and to top it off ignorant staff.
I've ran many 5 star restaurants in my time working all over the world in France belguim and New York not once have I ever treated a loyal paying customer or any first time customers with disinterest and charge them outstanding prices.
