Totally awful experience at Eggham on Toast today. Some of the most unaccommodating staff member’s I’ve ever met. Firstly, they couldn’t do a simple condiment swap on an English breakfast. I could remove items and then pay for something extra, but not swap. Okay, fine, I take it. I have a severe shellfish allergy. The moment I mentioned it, the lady at the counter kept on insisting that they have no shellfish, but there’s cross-contamination. Where from?! If you don’t stock it in your shop. Then she called the chef, who replied that their suppliers keep on changing the list of ingredients at the back-end at all times. The biggest non-sense I’ve ever heard of. I’ve been in professional hospitality for over 10 years and I know how suppliers work. Anyway, the cherry on top of the cake was when the lady told me to go and eat somewhere else because they cannot prevent cross-contamination. In a breakfast cafe?! That’s some serious level or arrogance mixed with pathetic incompetence. If that was a seafood restaurant, I would take it happily, but a cafe? Not coming back ever again. And not recommending anyone else to do so. 2min walk to Corneli’s bistro, friendly staff, and they know how to prevent cross-contamination. They also swap your condiments for no charge. And smile at you. 101 basics of kitchen and HOSPITALITY.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while. Dropped in for a Florentine Benedict and coffee. Service was good. Table was clean. Attentive and the staff tried their best to look after each customer walking in. I’m big on supporting small businesses so although the experience wasn’t perfect, I hope mgmt read this and take the feedback as constructive. Portion sizes arent all that great and other feedback here says the same. For a pound extra I’d expect two has browns not one. Prices are not as low as competitors in the area so it’s important the food reflects that. Flavors were good, food fresh and menu options were plentiful. Halal options would be nice. There’s a market for it, especially as some local businesses offer it. I would recommend for the menus to be cleaned daily as they were pretty used with stains on it (no pun intended). I’ll be back as I normally give smaller businesses more of a runway to prove themselves. I hope they establish themselves nicely and there’s a queue outside to get in because people know they’re getting quality products at fair prices. Good luck!!

Service and food quality was great just the prices aren’t. £8.75 for a jacket potato with beans (requested no cheese so thought I’d get a bit more salad) and a tiny tiny side salad, plus a flat white coffee with oat milk seemed expensive to me when you consider you can get something a lot more sophisticated for similar prices nearby. They have just had a refurbishment and it’s ok but lacks their previous cozy feeling like before. Needs some art on the walls. And finally why on earths is there hand sanitizer gel on the table!!! Why would I want chemicals in front of me when I’m eating??? This is a big NO NO. Please covid ended some time ago I se, let’s just dispense with the hand gel please. I’ll be back as is a nice place to chill on my lunch. Get rid of the hand gel and add more side salad it’s 5 stars all the way. Thanks

We ordered from Eggham on toast on Just Eat, we didn't receive one of our items and one of them was wrong. We rang them to ask where the item was and they kept changing their story about why it wasn't there:

They said that it was because they didn't have the right kind of bread and they tried to ring us to tell us this, we received no calls and they definitely did not try to get in touch with us.

They then said that they had the sandwich there and that the driver just left too quickly to pick it up.

We asked them to send the sandwich to us and they refused, we asked for a refund and they said we would have to take it up with Just Eat, which we have.

The lady on the phone to me was very rude and dismissive of what we were asking for. She was asking to speak to the person I was with instead of listening to what I was asking for.

All in all we are very disappointed with the service we have received, we had hoped that our order would be a lot smoother and better than it was, but if you are wanting an order to be correct and your service over the phone to be good, then I'd recommend ordering from...
