We decided to drive over to staines (30-40min) to visit kung fu for my husbands birthday meal. We had been past on previous shopping trips and though it looked good. Upon arrival we were welcomed and seated. We got drinks whilst the rest of our group arrived then hit the food. Flavour wise, I must say we all agreed it was good BUT almost everything was pretty much stone cold!! We had arrived at 7 so mot really late into the evening opening. There were others in there when we arrived but I'm assuming not enough for more regular replenishment to keep it all warm (it did empty pretty quickly). It was hugely dissapointing!! What i would highlight though is the lovely young woman who welcomed us in, she was really attentive and asked if everything was ok, when our plates were still quite full because we were struggling to eat the cold food. When I explained the issue she was really apologetic and offered for us to pick a selection and it would cooked fresh (we were pretty past it at that point). She also offered the tapenyaki (spelling?) Service which i thought was closed as no one was there, but the colleague was apparently sitting down as no one had requested anything. I took her up on this, and she instructed the other chef to vacate and said she would prepare the items herself. The kids salvaged what they could with dessert, when headed to look at desserts she checked in again, apologised again, offered take away which was a kind thought but impractical with the distance to go home it would likely be cold. She offered discounted future take away but again I politely declined as we wouldn't be able to utilise it as we aren't local. She then offered to organise a partial refund with her manager which I was incredibly grateful for. Just as we were getting ready to depart she played happy birthday music and presented my husband with a birthday cake which was incredibly kind. We were able to take it home with us. As we were leaving she apologised but she didn't know where her manager had gone (we suspect he was who we originally thought was another patron until we saw interactions with staff when he had stopped to eat for the majority of the duration of our visit, and then just as we were starting to get our stuff together he put his plate away, his coat on and exited) so was unable to initiate the refund! This was dissapointing jut she did give us vouchers towards a future visit. Realistically I think we are unlikely to use them, with so many other food choices around. Atmosphere wise, it felt more like a canteen than a buffet restaurant which again was dissapointing but is what it is. If the food was kept hot a circulated properly it really would have been lovely and good value for money!! Sadly that let the side down massively. That young lady though was amazing, she tried so hard and was genuinely sorry (not that it was her fault specifically), her customer service was exemplary and should be rewarded/recognised. Also the young man behind the bar who was helpful in bringing drinks over with me when I couldn't do it in one hit. We will likely not be back after this 'culinary experience' but as I say, thank you for the genuine customer service amd doing what you could with what was within your...
Read moreAVOID unless bland food, that all tastes the same but is sold under the guise of an 'all you can eat buffet,' is your thing!
On the spur of the moment, and without reading the many unfavourable reviews, our party of 4 plus toddler visited Kung Fu yesterday paying £16.99 each.
We are big fans of Chinese food but were all in agreement that this was the worst we had ever had. Furthermore, we were not asked about allergies, the desserts were unlabelled and the chocolate fountain area was dirty.
I had special fried rice, king prawns, mushrooms, broccoli and noodles. I also tried one of my daughter's duck with pancakes. None of these items tasted as expected apart from the mushrooms and broccoli!
The rest of my party tried the pizza which had the texture of cardboard; oily onion rings; cold limp chips; and the seaweed had the texture of plastic.
The chocolate fountain had 3 marshmallows which had already been dipped by other diners and, during the half an hour we were there, that is how it remained. We saw a member of staff 'clean' around the ice cream container but appeared to push the bits into, rather than away, from it.
My daughter complained and one female member was rude and dismissive, gesturing with her hands whilst claiming to have good customer service skills, so she asked for the manager. He was not much better and was smirking. They only started to take the situation seriously when other diners, and customers who were entering the establishment, noticed the commotion.
They tried to fob her off with a voucher for a next visit - laughable when you consider how dire the food was. They have apparently refunded half the cost but no receipt was given - & so far there is no sign of the refund on my card, so this was most likely a lie to get rid of my daughter.
Poor food and even worse service. Reading the other reviews, it's a good thing we did not use their toilets.....although two of our party have subsequently sufferred from...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible I've left a lengthy review on Trip Advisor. £14.99pp weekend evenings and £13.99pp week day evenings. This establishment is good from far but far from good. Cutlery are water stained. You have to pay before being seated. Menus was dirty. Cocktails are pre-mixed and kept in a variety of plastic bottles on the shelf behind Bartender so no fancy mixing here. This in turn has allowed owner to lessen the actual alcohol content. As you don't know how much of anything had actually gone into your cocktail the Mrs ordered a Zombie this held no resemblance to how a layered Zombie should look. It's a shame I didn't take a photo. It's common knowledge that restaurants make a killing out of selling soft drinks and Alcohol alike so for that reason alone you wouldnt expect to be served a watered down, pre-mixed mock up!!! especially at £4.95 a Cocktail this is very underhanded.
The food is no better. Some reason they had Yorkshire Puddings but no Roast options. Wasnt expected as on quote 'Oriental Buffet'
The food was too salty and that goes for everything the rice the chicken. The Curry Samosas was 90% pastry. Opening it up and checking as you do! The Sweet and Sour Chicken was too sour like with the Samosa 90% batter. The Beef and Black bean sauce looks the part but it's like a version based on the popular dish. I understand it's a Buffet but have had a better experience at the same price range. Staff seem to have no tongues the front of house staff as did I mind to pay before being seated ..what was the point in asking me a stupid question I clearly had no choice!! Would not recommend ...for great Cocktails head to Lime Yard around the corner. Mixed in front of you great staff and two Cocktails for £8.95...
