Our Experience on Valentine’s day was awful. We had an absolutely dreadful experience at Zizi Staines.
We arrive at the time I booked - 7:15, the lady at the host desk goes ‘sorry we’ve got to wait for people to leave before we can seat you, i know you booked but we had loads of walk ins’ we wait for about 15 minutes, she comes back over and goes ‘the only table i’ve got is a table cramped over there’, that was pushed against a wall, my girlfriend was pushed up against the back of another girl and I was pushed right up against a wall. Immediately off to a bad start. This table was number 203 - avoid at all costs!
Then we order drinks - they bring the wrong ones (the ones they gave us were more expensive so we took it and she didn’t change it on the till so that was plus), We were expecting the Zero Alcohol Passionfruit Sparkler and Non-Alcoholic Morello Cherry beverage, what arrived was a Passionfruit Martini and Morello Cherry - luckily, we are able to drink alcohol and took the drinks at no additional costs - however this is alarming for those who do not drink alcohol and cannot for religious or allergen reasons.
Then we waited for 1h15 mins for our starters to come - which were wrong entirely and undercooked. We were unable to order the ‘Mozzarella Garlic Bread, and informed it was out of stock, on Valentine’s day, at 19:30, to be out of stock of a dish that is the base of many other dishes - it seemed like a cop out to us. It’s simple, surely management would have predicted an influx of custom, more produce should have been ordered. So after this, we opted for the ‘Garlic Bombe’ - one with chorizo, one with mozzarella, and no onions on both, yet what arrived was two garlic bombe’s neither had chorizo, and both with a lot of onion. We were reluctant to send this back due to the wait we had already endured- however for those with allergens, this is utterly concerning.
The mains arrived about 25 minutes later. My pizza wasn’t remotely cooked, it was stone cold on the crust and the cheese was barely melted. I must say - my ‘Crispy Prosciutto Carbonara’ was lovely - however the dish also, was lukewarm at best.
We ended up taking desserts to go (it was a set menu - £27 each for three courses) and leaving as soon as we could.
Absolutely awful!
My thanks must go to our lovely waitress, unfortunately I didn’t get her name, she was a blonde lady. She was very attentive and it was clear she was getting a lot of backlash from many customers, for her colleagues errors. As a student, who works in hospitality I must issue my sincere gratitude to this server, she refused to make us pay service charge, unfortunately we didn’t have any cash on hand but I would of loved to of been able to tip her personally. I simply refuse to pay service charge for it to be split between the other colleagues who were at best - mediocre and uncaring of their customers.
I would not recommend a visit to this restaurant, pop around the corner and head to Prezzo instead - some serious management changes needed at Zizi Staines or at...
Read moreMy self and my Fiancee have been going to Zizzi's in Staine for the past 2 years as my fiancee is GLUTEN and DAIRY FREE.
Without fail, every month we go. My fiancee has her food brought to our table first & the management (Natalie & Ritesh) always get our order right, to the point where we don't have to mention the allergens as they know.
The kitchen team cook the food to perfection and my fiancee always enjoys her food.
Each month we try our best to remember to leave a review but ive not mentioned the GLUTEN & DAIRY before but i feel that it deserves to be mentioned when not only the kitchen team but always Ritesh & Natalie (management) do an amazing job.
ask anyone with allergens, its difficult nowadays to find a restaurant that can cater to your needs. however at Zizzi's in Staines.. when my fiancee has a smile on her face because of the food and the service... that makes me happy.
We will be in again on 30th April with 2 friends (early wedding gift to us) and again we will be in on 4th May (wedding celebration) as we get married on 3rd May.
we decided last night to go Zizzi's (21/04/25) ..
It was explained to us that they had an issue with the gas, earlier at around 5/6pm... We were happy to wait for them to look after the customers waiting for food.
The treatment (verbal) both Natalie & Ritesh received from a few customers was shocking, they always go above and beyond when looking after the customers and they dont deserve the negative response they get back.
My fiancee & myself have 15+ years of experience in the food & drink industry so we understand and appreciate how hard they work to treat every table the same and go above expectations.
Lastly, a mention for the kitchen team. With the restaurant having an open kitchen, you see the chefs working, prepping and cooking the food. cooking with a smile and always cleaning after.
time to lean, time to clean ... when the kitchen team are not busy mastering up your favourite dish, they will be cleaning. not once have we seen them standing around looking bored.
Please see that this gets passed on to the...
Read moreOh boy, second time coming here and it's still average. Firstly, it was very cold in the restaurant. Both my daughter and I felt chilly throughout the whole meal. They had hired a huge heater to combat the problem, but it was pointing up. Heat rises, so not sure anyone got the benefit of this. We were given a kids menu, but no crayons to do the colouring part so again my daughter unhappy and when her drink came wrong she was almost on the verge of tears. She built up the courage to ask our waitress for some crayons (which the other tables around us had) which was then forgotten about for 15 minutes until we managed to catch her attention again . Starter for all 3 of us was great, very tasty. It was the main course that let me down. Whilst my chicken and spinach calzone had excellent dough it had about 2 pieces of spinach, and the bechamel sauce was quite bland. Dessert was great, but my daughter's fruit cup (banana, strawberry and raspberry on the menu) was actually a third or so of a banana with three blueberries. Not exactly what we were expecting, but considering it took so long to catch someone's attention when we needed it I felt exasperated and decided not to say anything. Honestly the service was probably the biggest let down here. Didn't feel welcomed or important, no thank you after the meal just off to the next table, almost felt like the service you might expect in a Harvester or Wetherspoons. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but based on how little I enjoyed it the first time round I don't think this...
