We are regular Betty's customers and despite the food lovely (albeit overpriced for my delicious usual chicken sandwich for nearly £10 with Betty's signature cut off crusts that i would of been delighted to eat I must say, it leaves it the tiniest portion probably not even big enough for a child. I only say this as I wish there was more of it as it’s so good! But I digress). My mum & grandma had fantastic breakfast rosti’s where we are usually offered sauces & range of chutneys. In this case we weren’t and when we asked we were told by our waitress (who was pleasant overall) “I’ll have to check in the fridge if we have any” and when we asked for mayo/ketchup it was the same so we felt we were inconveniencing her. We came at 4:30pm which is quite late so we were aware there may not be the largest selection of desserts left on the trolley but the trolley never came round as it usually does and when we asked to have a look we were told no as it had already been put away. Despite it appearing again before we left with cakes left on it! So my mum asked for a fruit sundae only to be told there was no fruit left for it and wasn’t offered any alternative. So not the best experience today and I don’t say this to sound snobby or demanding but betty’s high prices are not just for the food but for their trade mark high quality service making customers feel they need for nothing that was lacking on our visit. Lastly the chips and ‘pommes frites’ are not fresh or hand-cut, they are basic oven chips which for their price is really not great. Proper home made chips would really make a difference and I know they are ordered a lot daily , so the quick/cheap frozen option is disappointing and I’m not the only customer who...

This was my first visit to Betty's, shocking for someone who has lived in Yorkshire their whole lives.

My friend and I had never been before and thought it was about time to see what the fuss was about.

We got there early to avoid queuing, we arrived at about 11ish and there was no queue (this was a Friday, term time).

We were seated straight away and as soon as you're through the door you're immediately made to feel welcome. It gives me Downton Abbey vibes.

We were left to peruse the menu and the vegan breakfast was recommended, which I ordered. My friend ordered the regular breakfast. The portion sizes were bizarre, my breakfast was huge! With potato rosti, spinach, mushroom, spicy beans, tomato and toast and I added a poached egg. (I'm not vegan). It was okay, the mushroom and egg were perfect but the rosti was very bland.

The regular breakfast, I was told, was good, there just wasn't much of it. One rasher of bacon, one sausage, an egg, a mushroom and toast.

A visit to Betty's wouldn't be complete without cake! We ordered a mocha and rum cake, which is served with ice cream and chocolate sauce. This made up for my disappointing breakfast. It was delicious!

I also had a lemongrass and ginger tea, which was equally yummy.

All was well presented, the service was impeccable. The staff there are all wonderful. It is pricey, but that was expected. £55 for 2 breakfasts, 2 cakes, a tea and a latte. Overall, we really enjoyed...

We used to go to Ilkley Bettys quite often before Covid and this was our first time since the start of the pandemic. It was very disappointing. I always have the Swiss Breakfast Rosti so I am making a comparison with the dish I've always had. The Rosti was under-seasoned, the fried tomato had no flavour at all, the mushroom was over-cooked and rubbery and the bacon was tough. The only positive was the egg was perfectly cooked. My wife had the ordinary cooked breakfast and asked for the bacon really well done and crispy. When it arrived it was cooked as normal and she had to send it back. When it returned it was still not crispy and had only been cooked further on one side. Returning her meal meant that we did not eat a significant part of our meal together which is the whole point of eating out. My wife's coffee was good but my hot chocolate was more like warm milk with a hint of chocolate. On the positive side the staff were excellent, friendly and very apologetic. However, we will not be returning in the future. I gave feedback to the manager but could not leave feedback on the website because while they give you a card asking you to fill in their survey they don't tell you you will need your receipt to fill in all the details. How many of us keep...

We went here to take my mum for Afternoon Tea. They had told us over the phone that they did an afternoon tea suitable for vegans. However, when we sat down they told us they didn't (until the following week when they start the festive menu). In all fairness though, I was still able to choose a sandwich from the ordinary menu which was amazing - avocado, spinach and spring onion! The staff were extremely apologetic and the manager came over to explain the mix up and gave me lots of sneak peaks about the vegan afternoon tea. I was also offered a complementary drink - I chose another coffee as it was delicious. My mum and sister (one omnivore and one vegetarian) both thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon teas - four sandwiches, a scone with cream and jam and four mini cakes. We have arranged to go back in December so I can try the new vegan afternoon tea - which will remain on the menu after the festive season. When we go back I am going to purchase some of the coffee from the shop too. I would definitely recommend a visit to Betty's and I really can't praise the staff enough. A wonderful place for a delicious treat.

I visited these tea rooms after a long time last week and the customer service and food was of very high standard, as always. Please read my reviews to see how this Betty's compares with others nearby. The special of the day was 'Kedgeree'. This is a rice dish containing fish and eggs. Lesser known fact- the name and recipe for this meal was derived from a local Indian dish by the British who lived there at the time of the British Raj. The original dish is hearty and warming and although there are some regional varieties, it always consists of rice, lentils and fried onions. The recipe can easily be adapted to make it vegan by replacing the butter with oil. It is ironic that it is this original dish that would likley be a very popular choice on a restaurant menu in modern Britain today. I ordered the fried fillet of fish myself and it was exquisite. The fish was flaky and cooked to perfection and the batter was light and crisp. After my meal, I felt fully fuelled for my walk across Ilkley Moor to Haworth. Admittedly, I didn't quite complete this as the trail was getting tricky to navigate in the dark.
