It was a bit of a strange experience and I'm not sure that any of us would return to be honest.
Most staff were lovely - especially the tall man with glasses. He was really smiley and welcoming.
Cutlery, glasses and plastic plates that are on the table when you arrive need a wipe - they just looked a bit grimy. The menus need a wipe after use as there was dried food on them.
Food - on the whole, it was okay. We had 3 poppadoms. The bottom one was wet as the plate was wet. It wasn't condensation, it hadn't dried from the wash. We enjoyed our starters (2 types of kebabs and fish masala - that was nice) but on the garnish, there was a cherry tomato on each. Mine was mouldy as in white/grey mould on the top and had a dent in the side from spoiling so this should have been seen by kitchen staff or the waiter who brought it. I noticed it when he put it down, removed the tomato and it went back with the poppadom plates on his return.
Mains - 2 out of 3 dishes (chef specials - One chicken and one lamb) were lovely and as expected. The pilau rice was okay but didn't taste of much. My friend ordered a mushroom pilau and the mushrooms were as though they were dried, whole mushrooms. My 2 friends, who had some, couldn't eat the mushrooms as they were chewy and they said they didn't taste right. The 3rd main was a 'king prawn' karahi. 1. It didn't taste of much but the (medium) spice level was good. 2. The prawns. So strange! They weren't king prawns. The only way to describe them was they were like the reconstituted prawns that have been remolded - a bit like the fish sticks that you used to get in the 90s. They were uniform in size and plump but when you bit into them they went to nothing. They were orange in colour and didn't have flesh that you'd expect from a prawn. They certainly didn't taste like prawns. So at £12.95, I definitely wouldn't order this.
Environment and atmosphere - the main reason for not going back. The music was interrupted by adverts all the time that seemed to go louder. The music went really loud for some songs (as in you couldn't hear the conversation - it was like you were in a club and lipreading) and between some songs, there was a high-pitched buzzing that went on for a while. Not great when you're sensitive to sound. It made your head and teeth hurt. One couple had their hands over their ears it was that loud and high-pitched. They didn't stay long and left shortly after. Please pay for a music subscription and sort out the sound levels.
There was also a repetitive tablet/Uber sound that was on the payment counter and it was so loud and left to go off repeatedly before being looked at by a member of staff. Turn it down or move it to somewhere where you can get to it easily.
Whilst we were eating our mains, a table behind us left so it was cleaned. The table cleaning spray was so strong of a smell, we felt like we were eating orchids/flowers and we all had to let it pass before continuing to eat. It was like a very strong Zoflora, which is lovely, but not whilst you're eating. It made you feel a bit sick and your eyes smart.
We went elsewhere for coffee and dessert and continued our evening.
Overall, we wouldn't go back which is such a shame because we love eating out together and it was a great place to meet for us after work...
Read moreAttended with family for dinner, a group of 9 people. Booked table for 7:30 pm. When got there the head waiter said “please wait we are on Pakistan time here”. Waited 15-20 min before we were seated. Head waiter took the starters order and disappeared. We then had to ask for drinks menu, he just picked one up from another table and just put it in the middle of the table with 9 people sat on it to share between. Ordered drinks and starters came. Which were mix grill platers. Pretty much all were overcooked, hard and chewy. Then, one by one, only the bottled drinks came but the Mock-tails and Jug of Lassi, that was ordered at the same time, was no where to be found. Starters finished and then remaining drinks came. Excuse for delay was that the drinks were made it fresh. How long does it take to put Pineapple juice in water with ice? Cause that’s what it was at the end instead of a “Virgin Bombay Colada”
Then we had to call the head waiter again to get the order for mains. As he never took the order. We then sat just having drinks and waiting for our mains.
Mains also came in dribs and drabs. One of the dishes was “Tawa Gosht” which mean meat on a hot pan but what came was just bones and was not very pleasing to look at all.
Another dish ordered was “Nirali Murgh” which was no where to be seen. When asked about it, was told that it was getting made fresh. When it finally arrived, it was cold and when opened the lid, the lid had onion peels stick to it as if it was dropped into the bin and then placed back on the food. That was the last straw that put everyone off their food. You know it’s the worst customer service ever when you speak to the “Owner/Manager Saeed” and he turns around and says “If you don’t like it then don’t come again” “you can’t blackmail me just because I have other customers in the restaurant”I mean really? Is this how customer complaints are dealt with? The suggested resolution by the Owner/Manger was “the total bill comes to £150.00 you can pay £100.00 as you’ve eaten most of the food. One word “speechless” to describe the feeling at the time. The head waiter “Shafiq” had a constant Smirk on his face. Service was poor, food was below standard and the utensils were dirty. We just paid the full amount and walked out. Will never go there again and none of our friends or families...

Walked in, after reserving a table and was told there is a reduction in the menu. (Which could have easily been told to me the day I booked it)
Then was told menu was online so went to their website to look, then ordered our meal after the disorganised staff turned up. Staff didn't know what was on the menu, and what dishes had what items? Not very professional at all. Didn't even have a drinks menu asked for diet drinks option as we are trying to reduce sugar intake and guess what, nothing available. Starters: (tapas for two) came and bits didn't arrive e.g. paneer, so asked our waiter and he said that it doesn't come with it but on the menu it says it does... Wanted to order Shami kebabs but didn't have any, clearly means they buy ready made ones as they have seek kebab.
Then for main course ordered a tandoori mix grill which costs £17 again was missing tandoori chicken, peppers and corn on the cob. Asked directly for the manger as the waiter was clueless. Manager came and said some things are substituted (could have told us before ordering), does masala fish seem like a good substitute for tandoori chicken? Didn't think so..
Didn't eat any of our main meal and told them to take it back then asked for the bill. Manager was not apologetic at all and had 0 people skills and we were told to pay for the full bill as the 'government discount' was on? Acting as if he was doing us a favour by offering 50% off even though it is a government scheme. They seemed to blame everything on the scheme and how it was really busy.
However the restaurant was very quiet not even half full when we went whilst the rest of Bradford was jam packed, no surprises there..
First ever visit to a Nawaab and guess what it will be my last for sure.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Just look elsewhere.
