Sometimes, you just need a proper pub. Forget your gastropubs and your craft ale temples – this is the real deal. The carpet's probably seen more spills than a brewery floor, the lingering scent of stale beer and questionable cleaning products is as much a part of the decor as the wonky framed prints.
But that's the charm, isn't it? The beer's cheap, the locals are characters, and the banter flows as freely as the lukewarm lager.

Gorgeous for £15 in a lovely old pub, warmed by a fabulous fire and great beer. This is a gem. A real gem. The owners worked hard and the food was freshly prepared. It's stopped now but there is other food available week day lunchtimes.
