Hotwells Fish Bar — Restaurant in Bristol

Placed an order on their App OrderYoyo on Wed 14th April around 6pm. Firstly the app isn’t great if your address doesn’t have a number just a building address, as our Airbnb did, it can’t find you & won’t let you progress. So we had to opt for collection not a major problem we think it’s only a 10 min drive. Placed a £41 order to be collected at 715pm & as we pull up outside despite getting an order confirmation msg earlier we get a text saying order cancelled. Again no major problem we are outside so can pop in & place the order. Despite their website/app saying they’re open & indeed the opening times in the shop window confirm this we then find that Hotwell’s fish & chip shop is closed. Call the number no help. Message them no reply. So we have to reorder elsewhere. Thank God not too far away was the brilliant Clifton Village Fish shop.. excellent food & service. Easy to preorder via deliveroo for collection. Good popcorn chicken, well seasoned crumb and plenty for the price. Had the bratwurst. Very tasty but shame deliveroo doesn't allow you to add it as battered, or for any of the sausages, which for 10p is a bargain. Fish is a good size for the price. Nice batter, not greasy. Sprinkled with maldon salt. The homemade tartare source is tasty, and comes free unlike some other chippies. Halloumi fries are great. Good amount and again not greasy like others I've had. Absolute disgraceful service!!! Was given different food I asked for. When pointed it out straight away staff member who was serving (Rado) completely ignored it even though I was not able to eat it due to allergies. He wouldn't swap the food, nor give me a refund (strangely that was what he suggested at first but then quickly changed his mind). I had to give my food away to passers by, so lost the money.
