So I scheduled a Uber eats order yesterday (Bristol branch) for my teenage son whilst I was at work. I scheduled this as I know they quite often sell out of items so I wanted to guarantee that my son could have exactly what he wanted. I went for the chicken meal box with rice and sweet potato fries. I also left a note in the comment/allergen box to notify the staff that I wanted no cucumber in the box as my son is allergic. I also ended up paying more as it wasn’t enough to get free delivery. Once the order arrived, not only was it freezing cold but there was no rice in there only sweet potato fries, all the fries were completely soaked in sauce/grease to the point that the fries were floating. The salad was a complete sloppy mess and to my worst surprise there was cucumber in there!! I think what’s the most frustrating thing about this whole situation is the fact that I work for the biggest sandwich shop in the UK and I used to work on the Uber eats department. This is how I know that there is an option to notify the customer if there are any items sold out, you can even go as far to ring the customer to make sure that the customer is aware of what they are getting and not just assuming what they would want. For example if my son knew there wasn’t going to be any rice he would of ordered regular fries rather than sweet potato fries but obviously we weren’t given the option or made aware of this. Along side to this I am also aware from working on Uber eats that the comment/allergen box is very well seen and how important/crucial that taking notice of these comments can be towards someone’s safety and experience whilst ordering food. The whole box was left completely untouched and was thrown straight into the bin.
Quite frankly I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed. This used to be one of our favourite places to get food from but have been left very disappointed the last couple of times. Such a shame. Please DO...

This establishment also say they accept blue light discount which may only reflect on the meal deals as after card was shown we didn’t receive discount but we did receive a 50p discount for cash 💙
We were wandering through Broadmead looking for something to eat when we were drawn in by the amazing smell of chicken and the hip hop vibes coming from LJ Hugs. It had a great energy, and we couldn’t resist giving it a try.
We ordered a childs meal (chicken and rice with a bottle of water), though we did notice the menu mentioned salad or chips — daughter refused salad and we weren’t offered chips, so possibly just a misunderstanding. Still, the food was fantastic. Our daughter, who has sensory sensitivities with food, gave it a solid 9/10 — a rare and very welcome surprise!
10 mins after ordering with James, we sat under the canopy and tucked into the most delicious chicken. My partner and I both had the chicken wraps and they were absolutely spot on — hot, fresh, and full of flavour. It also gave us a welcome bit of shelter from the rain, so all round it was a really lovely experience.
Only downside was the music toward the end of our meal — a track came on that was loud and full of explicit lyrics. It felt out of place, especially as they had advertised a children’s meal so presumed all ages were welcome. A member of staff glanced over when it started and there were a few awkward giggles — a bit of a shame, as the rest of the experience was genuinely brilliant and we left feeling a bit awkward.
Overall, the food was absolutely delicious, the team clearly enjoy what they do, and we’d...
Read moreToday lunch has taken us to LJ hugs in Bristol city centre, I’ve heard good things about this food spot and I was interested to try it.
First impression when arriving felt very chaotic and person in-front of me was being served by a pretty blunt member of staff and this left me a little bit on concerned, but I was served by a different member of staff and they were great, very attentive and happy to help, so big up him for setting the standard which I’m sure they want!
So let’s talk food, for £8.95 I had a rice box with chilli beef and salad with mayo and mango pineapple habanero sauce, overall the flavours were good nothing to shout home about but they clearly trying to put flavour into the dishes. But I the rice was plain and overcooked, rice cooker rice just never hits the same, and again today it’s let a dish down massively. The rice was stodgy overcooked and soft, almost become paste in places and so soft it just mush, the chilli beef was ok but some bits were dry and and missing that real tomato flavour in background of any great chilli. The salad was fresh and ok not loads of it and not sure if onion was sliced or stood on but at least it was fresh, the sauces did hit tho, punchy deep flavour and nice notes to both sauces.
Seating is based outside and covered with gazebo which is nice, fair few seats also!
Pricing as good £8.95 with a can of drink is certainly good value! If they can finesse that little bit more on the flavours this would hit the spot everytime.
Overall score today 5.5/10 - hope to visit again and get this score bumped up...
