For my family, a Friday evening is never complete without a Peri-Peri chicken feast!
Although I’ve often opted for takeaways from this place, this time, I wanted to experience dining in. And I must say, it didn’t disappoint! Unlike many Peri-Peri joints where space feels tight, this restaurant is spacious and airy, allowing for a comfortable dining experience.
I ordered a whole Peri-Peri chicken with two spicy rice, two drinks, five chicken strips, and a side of chips. Since I’ve had their takeaway before, I already knew the food would be good. But dining in was a whole different ball game! Eating the food hot and fresh, while having access to an array of sauces based on personal preference (much like at Nando’s), made the experience even better.
The menu offers a lot more variety than your average Peri-Peri place, with sauce options including hot, medium, very hot, mango, lime, and garlic. There was another one starting with “Abu,” which I, unfortunately, can’t recall, but I loved all of them! The real showstoppers were the spicy rice and the chicken—absolutely mouthwatering!
If only this place were closer to home, I wouldn’t have to drive 20 minutes every time to get my fix!
To round off the meal, I ordered a Ferrero Rocher milkshake, which was nothing short of divine. Even my two-year-old couldn’t get enough of it!
Parking is ample, and there are separate restrooms for males and females. The prices are pretty reasonable too—great value for money.
But the cherry on top? The exceptional service from Khuram! He was an absolute gem, making us feel so welcome. Even my little one took a liking to him instantly.
All in all, a fantastic Friday night, and I can’t wait to come back again!
Thank you once again, brother...
Read moreUpon entering the restaurant with my friend, we were greeted with a warm smile from the owner himself. He took us to our table and, at the same time, we were having a bit of banter with him, which was a lovely start to the evening. Once seated, I noticed how incredibly clean the restaurant was from the tables, floors, and cutlery. A very good start. So far we have been impressed. Once looking at the menu, I and my friend decided to order a chicken platter and a single cheeseburger that we would share. Now, getting into the good stuff, the actual food. The chicken was so tender and moist that it just melted in my mouth, it felt like a hot knife going through butter. The owner recommended going for the mango spice and I'm so glad he did, as the mango flavor was able to prevent it from being over-spicy. Now going on to the cheeseburger. As soon as I took my first bite, I fell in love with it. The meat was so succulent, juicy, and tender, just like the chicken. The burger melted into my mouth, opening a whole can of flavors. I was so stuffed I could barely eat the chips we ordered, but I have no doubt that was amazing too. Once Manzano starts hitting the mainstream audience, Nandos is gonna start sweating. Also, this establishment is 100% halal, so it's all good for you brothers and sisters out there. Will...
Read moreWe've just had our first Manzano's experience and can only hope there will be many more to come! After being welcomed by Amir and the friendly staff into their new restaurant we were really impressed by the quality (and quantity!) of the food. The chicken liver appetizer was insanely good - highly recommend trying that with the "mango and spice" marinade, which elevated it superbly. Not my usual sauce choice as I'm a spice lover but didn't regret following Amir's recommendation one bit! The extra hot chicken for mains was equally devoid of any regret and there was definitely that flame-grilled element to it that you'd usually only associate with that other place that starts with N and ends with Ando's. I'd have myself down as an ex-Peri-enced diner and must admit I had tears in my eyes both from the surprising heat it packed and from the joy of having discovered a top drawer peri-peri gaff nearby in Fishponds at last! They don't even feel the need need to make stupid peri-based puns to grab your attention either :)
Really wish you the best of success with your new restaurant guys and hope you can break into the Bristol market as you deserve to. No doubt we will be seeing you again soon once we need to re-up on that hot sauce...
