Olive Tree Restaurant — Restaurant in Bristol

This is our local! And it's a travesty it gets less people going thete when you consider the food is far superior to Porto Lounge, which is very popular. I suppose it's the atmosphere in PL as I can't think of any other reason. Give this a go especially the hot meze starter! Otherwise all meals are top notch EDIT-1ST OCTOBER 2024. Unfortunately, I've been forced to concede the food in Olive Tree has been hit and miss lately!!

I gave it 5 stars before but 3 stars this time. I like a nice moist grilled lamb.

Unfortunately, the last time we visited the meat was charred to smithereens!!

The whole family were quite underwhelmed by what we all eat bar the starter!

My shish kebab was dry! I was thinking the guys down the road do a better shish kebab! And costs half the money!

It's a real shame as the place has great potential and I think it's really crying out for someone to just shake it up and give it something!

Fishponds has a lot of nice eateries and this place could be up there. It's missing out, I feel.

For the most part it's mostly empty, I wonder how they've kept it going for so long? I can't imagine they're making any profit from it.

It's a real shame and I don't mean to slate anyone who's trying. But feel like the answer is so obvious.

The food needs to be good all the time! Not just sometimes. In La Piazza, I've never complained about their food, which I can add is...

We came in on a lunchtime. 3 adults. 3 children and 2 infants.

We ordered 2 X beef stifado. A Cajun chicken and bacon wrap. 3 x children's meals of chicken nuggets and grilled chicken. With a side of onion rings.

We also ordered coca cola x 2, a Fanta and a strawberry milkshake.

I have to say the food was incredible!! The beef stifado was tender and falling apart. The portions were huge! The wrap had incredible flavour. The kids meal portions were quite big and we couldn't believe the price. So good!

Even the drinks and milkshake were not only an affordable price but lovely. Milkshake was freezing cold. Made fresh and thick. Everything you want in a milkshake.

The service was impeccable. We were quite a noisy bunch with all the kids but the waiter cracked jokes, entertained the children and was attentive and kind.

All of us said when we left we can't wait to go back. Next up on our agenda is Sunday for a roast.

The staff were pleasant and the garden space to the rear, sunny with leafy green trees and birdsong, however the food was disappointing and the service was slow. I ordered The Olive Tree Burger which was a generous portion including a beef burger and grilled chicken with bacon and melted cheese nicely presented with onion rings. The homemade coleslaw was lovely and the chips were fine, sadly the burger had been cremated and all the meat was tough and dry - it was like chewing on leather! Such a shame because it had the makings of a great meal. My husband had grilled chicken, rice and some green salad pretty ordinarily presented and again the meat was over cooked and dry. No-one enquired if our meal was ok, if so I would have given feedback. Hopefully the chef will see this and remedy the issue although we won’t be going back...
