Couldn't tell you about the food as we never got to eat there. We arrived a little after 6.30pm after doing some of the Gromit Unleashed 3 trail in the area with 3 children (8, 5 & 3yrs old). We waited at the engrave to wait to be seated but no one came, staff doing drinks looked round but didn't come over.
There were plenty seating outside and least 4 tables inside that would have seated or family of 5. After a few more minutes Husband approached drinks staff and asked if we could be seated only to be told we had to wait for someone else. Bare in mind or 3 kids are now restless and hungry. Finally lay who we passed outside before going in comes in from back door and potters about dealing with take out delivery guy. Staff go over to get and point us out, she looks over with the most annoyed look days done to staff who come over and says have you booked a table to which we say no as with it being only half full why would we think we needed to and as we were only visiting on holiday it's not something you think about needing to do. Her reply then was "If you haven't booked then we can't seat you!"
I wouldn't have minded being turned away because we had no booking and the place was full but it wasn't and there was no sort of customer service where they even thought let us see what bookings we have for these empty tables and see if we can fit you in quickly!
For a chain like this to be so rude and uncaring to visitors especially with young children is appalling and coming from London where this pizza chain is always busy but still have staff that have customer service skills and would try to help in a half filled restaurant says that this branch is lacking and should be avoided.
Having to take our disappointed children out without getting to eat pizza they were looking forward to because of the staff is...
Read moreBeing coeliac and a lover of pizza the coeliac UK recommendation and the great variety of gluten free choices makes pizza express a favourite restaurant for my family. However on my last trip to the harbour side venue in Bristol I was first disappointed by the poor customer service we were not greeted on arrival despite it being quiet and had to seat our selves. When it came to ordering we first ordered our daughters food from the children's menu. Dough balls, as they are her favourite and a GLUTEN FREE margarita. We were interrupted by the waiter at this point who told us not to order her desert at this stage, we then went on to order our mains which where also GLUTEN FREE. Before the waiter walked away I asked if he had got the pizzas as gluten free and was told rather shortly that yes he had got them down. The food was very nice and I enjoyed my meal... until I took a large bit of my daughter’s pizza. Being only five she never manages a whole one so we always order hers gluten free so that we can shear what she leaves. On this occasion however the waiter had not being giving us his attention and failed to put down that the children's pizza should be gluten free. When we spoke to the waiter he initially shrugged it off and said that the dough balls are not gluten free anyway. We explained the situations severity and after couple of quick talks to the manager (who refused to come and talk to us in person) and again to us we came to the agreement that we would not be paying for the meal. This does not solve the fact that I’m now in chronic pain, I’m very disappointed that the level of customer care was so poor that I now have a week or more of stomach cramps to...
Read moreWent for dinner with colleagues, and we all had a wonderful time. The food was amazing, the service was great, and the atmosphere was fantastic! We precooked the table that is highly recommended if you are coming with a larger group, especially over the weekend.
The manue of this pizza express offered a wide range of pizzas, backed dishes, salads, and sides. I ordered a pizza with chucken, onions, and red sweet peppers. The combination was so unique and different compared with that from any high sheet pizzeria, I totally loved it. I will definitely reorder the smae pizza on my next visit. As far as the size of the pizza is concerned, it was around 14" thin crust authentic Italian. I normally easily finish the same sized pizza, but I had to share it with my colleagues since I couldn't eat it all myself.
I paid about £21 for the pizza and a bottle of diet sprite, which was quite reasonable for the location and the peak time. The bill included 12% service charge by defaul - to be shared as tip among the staff, so I didn't pay extra.
Everyone in the team was polite and very helpful when it came to changing to a bigger table due to an unexpectedly higher count from our side. They even moved our food to the bigger table, which was really nice. In general, a restaurant staff look frustrated and disengaged, but wasn't the case in...
