We came for a lunch here as it was my partner's birthday, we were sat at a table next to the kitchen and the traffic from waiters leaving and entering was a bit distracting in the beginning, even though there was plenty of other tables the host could have sat us. As our waitress came to the table we ordered a few apperitifs but she wasn't even sure about the size they offered drinks and had to go check at the bar. As our drinks arrived out of 3 glasses 2 had lipstick on them 🤮. They changed immediately and she apologized in an honest manner. Starters came out in a good 8min and were simple presented, but tastefully. As mains we had a Ribeye steak and a baked cod here the presentation was much better. Everything was full of flavour, very tastefully. We skipped dessert so can't add to it. Service could have been more attentive in up selling some drinks. As we got the bill, in a way I was surprised that there was no deduction as a goodwill due to the lipstick misshap. Working myself in the industry I guess everyone runs their restaurant's differently and customer care differs.

Was really excited about having dinner at SotA and while the food didn't disappoint, the service left a lot to be desired. We waited 20 minutes without someone so much as glancing in our direction before heading to the bar ourselves to request service. A further 5 minutes went by before someone even came to take our drink order. The waitress was partway through asking if we needed more time to decide on our order when the look on my face must have told her we'd had plenty of time! (Three tables who'd been seated after we arrived had been served, one was already eating!) Our meals were nicely presented and overall were tasty (would recommend the Mac n cheese), but my steak was rare not med-rare and one of the sides was forgotten. I decided not to bother asking for either to be rectified! The table next to us seemed equally as frustrated with the lack of service, and had also had to track someone down to order drinks and later to pay. There seemed to be plenty of staff for the amount of customers so it was a real let down. Ultimately, there are a lot of great steaks available in Bristol, so I won't be rushing back to SotA any time soon!

Me and my Mum ordered a steak each and two sides. The beef mac and cheese was inedible…the ‘chunks of beef’ on top were either pure fat or had a strange taste. The dish was comparable to dog food! Tried my mums steak, which had a vinegary sort of taste to it. My steak came out blue when I had asked for medium and the reasoning was ‘it wasn’t rested long enough’ when in actual fact, it just wasn’t cooked anywhere near correctly. I had a new one cooked for me, which came out well done. By this point, my mum had almost finished hers, so I just ate what I had been given. They did offer a discount, hence the service stars, (we asked for a glass of Prosecco each instead). Came to over £100 and neither of us enjoyed our food, such a waste of money 😢 have been here a couple of times a number of years back and couldn’t fault it, but won’t be coming again

Starter was a little slow to come out but it was worth the wait. Had the meat board which was sausage, baby ribs (lush), chicken satay and wings. For mains I had the 200g fillet steak, chips and onion rings with a red wine jus. Asked for the steak medium/well and it was cooked beautifully. Chips were so fresh they still had an earthy taste (but in a nice way). Onion rings were huge and absolutely delicious. Other half had the 400g rump steak, rare, with chips, onion rings and peppercorn sauce. Everything was spot on. Would have been £80 (with 3 cokes) but we had £20 off for the eat out scheme and we also had a £20 voucher that I got for my partner which run out in June but they gave an extra 6 months to use due to the pandemic. Thanks for a lovely experience x

First time coming to this restaurant and will never come back. The place was not busy when we arrived. We had to wait for a long time for our starter, to be fair it was good. When we finished our starter, we had been waiting for a long time for our main too. We had to ask the manager where our food were, and typical answer "they are just plating it". The manager did not even go to the kitchen to check, how can she say they are just plating our food? We had to wait another 10 minutes again after we had asked the manager about our food. I think our main orders were forgotten. The steak was not worth the wait. The chips were tasteless and not crispy. The peppercorn sauce was expensive, sour, tasteless and disgusting. . There are better restaurants nearby.

Great night out!!! We went as a group of 3 for a meal out, great aesthetic, great atmosphere, great music, and not too loud, nice selection of cuts on the menu plus a good amount of special meat cuts on the board, I went for the Grilled Prawn starter which was nice, then for the T-bone with some sides for main, medium-rare and came out cooked to perfection, very tasty and flavourful would definitely recommend, then the blueberry creme brulee cheesecake to finish which was superb, picked up a little bit of artwork from the local gallery on the way out aswell. Definitely worth a trip if you are into meat, there were some veggie options aswell, I great place to have a night out.
