I only took a photo of a little bit of a roast that they had on this time and not all of the other lovely plates of food I had. I was just enjoying it too much to think about it to be honest. The fact it is a buffet style place and you can just have a little plate of things you fancy is really nice. So when I saw a little roasty station I just fancied a bit. Not enough that I couldn't enjoy other things but a few bites to satisfy my craving for a roast. Za Za's is always brilliant quality food and the staff are always great. Its a really nice place to go for dinner. It is usually a bit hectic just because it is so big and busy with families but as long as you know to expect that, you will enjoy it. I always normally start off with a sushi plate to start with as their sushi is of such a nice quality. Then I might have a Chinese plate with some noodles and sweet and sour or a pizza and chips or a burger plate in some order. You can go as mad as you like until you feel ill if you are that way inclined. I try not to get to that stage whilst still feeling like I have given it my 'best effort'. There is such a variety and it is all always fresh and of a great quality. I would say the puddings are nice but can be a bit hit and miss. In particular I personally always avoid the chocolate fountain or anything that little fingers or anything else may find themselves being stuck into. Having been sat near there a few times it is apparent that the general population has a very varied idea of what constitutes acceptable good hygiene practice. With all that in mind, Za Za Bazaars I think is a must visit if you are spending time in Bristol and are a foodie.

We went to Bristol, especially for this restaurant as someone recommend it as being similar to what we used to have in Cheltenham called The Real China. As we arrived there, we had reservation, but the place was completely packed and they tried to sit us in an area with lots of families with kids (I swear there were even new-borns in there). As a couple, we wanted a bit more privacy and quiet space, so we asked for a different table; they were not very happy to help, but eventually they did (they probably saw my utmost disappointed face as I was literally ready to leave). They have a very wide variety of foods, all sorts, pretty hard to navigate through all the people and food stands. We did managed to put something on our plates after going back and forth for what seemed to be like an eternity. I would say, for people with lots of kids and big families it's a great place to hang out, eat as much as you can and drink as much as you can (I think the sodas you can refill multiple times, but not 100% sure). An interesting experience, but I will probably not return there any time soon. It might be less busy at dinner, but as we don't live close by, I wouldn't know.

An update to my review, for August 2020. There's a lot of thought that's gone into Covid restrictions, one way systems, barriers, etc and some work, some do not. You can no longer help yourself, though it remains an all-you-can-eat buffet. The servers are behind big screens and will dish out what you'd like, in generous portions. However: though there are pictures of the dishes, it's not quite the same to as seeing the food itself. Being given a good portion is also fine, but if you're the type of person that likes to sample a little of everything, then this will not enable you to do that as you'll be full really quickly. (Solution: let the server know you only want a little. Sounds simple until you try it though). Of course, this is a clever strategy as it means less people walking around and potentially less food waste. Alas there are too many people milling around and the one way systems and in/out signs just don't work and are largely ignored. Also - some of the food is terribly bland to the point of being horrid. (The Chinese noodles remain excellent, BTW). The staff are great, but this doesn't make for a great overall experience when the food has become so mediocre. (My original review before Covid changes, below). 100% satisfaction. I've been coming here for a while now and it just keeps getting better. There's a fantastic selection of food from around the world and the food is pretty darned good. It may not be >the best< but for an all-you-can eat, the offerings are very good indeed. It's great to see the live cooking and the staff are always cheerful and happy for you to watch. 9/10 on a rating for fast food.

Despite being very busy (booking is highly recommended) there was plenty of food available in all the different areas. The quality of food was the expected standard for an 'all you can eat" buffet, in other words, disappointing in some areas e.g. the calamari was undercooked and very stodgy; the mac cheese was bland and tasted very processed; the vegetable korma was more lentil than vegetable and the chocolate fountain was very cheap, milk chocolate. On the other hand, the vegetable stir-fry in the Chinese section was very well cooked with a great crunch, the cooked-to-order vegetarian fajitas were very good and the vegetarian chilli had a nice heat to it. As already mentioned, booking is advised as it gets very popular, especially with families with young children. It was also very cold where we were sat but other areas were blasted by little heaters. Would I go again? Possibly as it is very good value for money, however, there are definitely better quality places to eat in Bristol (though would cost more).

I was a bit skeptical regarding vegan plant-based options based on the diversity of reviews about that, saying contradictory things. I went to see myself and I was allowed to have a tour before buying my ticket to make sure I would have enough options. There is a vegan menu that could have had me informed, but the lady at the counter downstairs didn't have any anymore. I took pictures of the vegan plant-based menu. There are LOTS of VEGAN options. You won't find the latest fancy mock meat substitutes for beef, chicken, pork etc, but you won't starve! For each type of cuisine you have a several options. Trust me, I had 4 full plates and could barely walk afterwards (don't do like me, be more reasonable !). Vegetarian or vegan options are clearly LABELLED. Each meal has a description and it's says for whom it is suitable (Vegan, vegetarian, eggatarian, non-vegetarian) Tip: it's cheaper for lunch 4 stars because there are a lot of meaty options 4 stars because it is quite noisy

It seems every year we go to Za Za Bazaar, for a birthday or anniversary, nothing ever seems to change. From the decor, to the menu it's all the same, year in year out. But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it right? Can I shout out to the Indian food please - without a doubt the best there is to offer. Wide selection, great flavours, great tastes. I could eat at this section every day. Everywhere else though, sub par. Even the desserts weren't delicious this time round. You know they're grasping at straws, when the rice pudding is the best dessert item. I'm clearly biased. Don't judge me. If you've not been, you must give Za Za a try. A word of advice though: don't sit near the entrance - breezy each time somebody comes in or goes out. Don't sit near the toilets - just because. Do not fill yourself up with carbs - that's just stupid. They nail you on the drinks - order water. 🤷♂️ Whatever you need to do to beat the buffet, do it, so long as its legal. Peace.
