We dined at Ragu last night and the food was nice. The artichoke and gnudi were very good, the crab tagliolini was nice. The focaccia was a bit stale, the croquettes were fine.
Aside from the food, the waitress was very rude to us. We were seated at what felt like a window ledge, despite having booked ages ago. There were several empty tables (one of which stayed empty for the duration of our meal) but we were told it was too much of a faff to move us. There should be a distinction between the high and low tables on the booking - although the much wider high tables over looking the kitchen were nice. When we asked to move we were told that we were insulting her restaurant and she personally really likes that table. Her tone was very condescending and I it felt like being told off by a teacher, to the extent that we nearly left, but it was late on a Saturday. When our food came the plates would barely fit on the ledge.
I also think there should be clarity that the wine is unfiltered, as having bits in wine isn’t for everyone.
The other waiter and waitress were great, so it’s just unfortunate that one of them spoke to us so rudely. The waiter did actually then move us to an outside table, which was better, but still very small and crammed in.
Our second pasta dish came more than 20 minutes after our first and when we asked where it was, the waitress said they were waiting for us to finish the first one. I think this is probably because there wasn’t enough room on the table for both! The side plates given to eat off of are also tiny.
For the price, the setting just doesn’t match up. It’s like they’ve tried to fit in too many tables. Sitting outside, there are other much cheaper restaurants and it felt a bit like being in a food court.
It’s a shame as there felt like a lot of potential, it’s a great menu, but it was just a...
Read moreWe went ro RAGU on a date recently and had a lovely experience.
We sat outside and I was very happy to be positioned right next to one of the heating lamps, so was toasty the entire time despite the cold day.
We ordered the crab pasta (delightfully lemony in my opinion, though my partner expected a stronger crab flavour and maybe bigger chunks of flesh or a decorative crab claw), the mushroom pasta (very umami, we both adored this one but thought it was served in a plate too shallow for how much sauce there was).
We also had the ciabatta with orange butter (great choice if you're worried you may not fill up, as the restaurant serves smaller plates) and the fried artichokes (we still think about those!).
For dessert, we had the best panna cotta we've ever tried. The depth of the burnt honey and the richness of the dessert was insane. We also had the tiramisu (which was unexpectedly large, featured dried fruit, and was served on a very small plate, compared to the panna cotta).
We were prepared to spend upwards of £90 on this, yet the bill was below that. I suppose the only thing I noticed that I didn't really expect was that a few of the plates we got served were chipped. The tables are quite close to each other too and on the smaller side but not to the point of discomfort, just an fyi if you prefer a private lounge experience.
It's really hard to come up with any dealbreaking negatives, despite our expectations being set extraordinarily high for this as it's a Michelin venue. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we recommend it to any couple looking for an elevated...

We recently had the absolute pleasure of dining at RAGÙ, one of the newest additions to the Wapping Wharf cargo units, and we were completely blown away.
Every dish we tried was a work of art – visually stunning, flavourfully balanced, and incredibly thoughtful. We started with their focaccia with whipped bottarga butter, which set the tone with its rich umami depth and perfect texture. The cipollotti onion with caprino fresco from Piedmont and grape must was unforgettable – such a unique, elegant combination that we haven’t stopped talking about since. Whoever crafted this menu is nothing short of a culinary genius!
Other standouts included the Ashton Court venison with gorgonzola dolce, bone marrow butter and aged balsamic, and the Sorrento tomatoes with nectarine, fennel, and Wye Valley agretti – each plate offering surprising and perfectly tuned flavour pairings. Even the sides impressed: the Strode Valley rocket with 30-month Parmesan and Il Tinello balsamic was so good we ordered a second helping on our return visit!
Yes – we were back the very next week! This time for the lamb and that incredible rocket side again. The ingredients are top quality, and the care in preparation shows in every bite.
The atmosphere is laid back yet refined, and the team is warm, professional, and clearly passionate. RAGÙ has quickly become our go-to for dining out near the harbour. Highly recommend booking ahead – it’s a gem that won’t stay under the...
