Great proper beer selection, a nice cozy atmosphere with a decent open fire, and no LED lights...so instead of feeling like you're drinking in the kitchen of a new build house, it feels like you're drinking in the aga heated kitchen of an early 20th century farm house in north somerset. A real bristol gem... Cheers!

If you like excellent real ale (especially the darker ones) in a proper pub environment then this is a place you should visit. I'll admit I've been in Bristol 18 months and I never even knew this pub was there as it is squirreled away around the back of the council offices but this is worth finding, trust me 😉

Mixed experiences here, sometimes it's very friendly and a good atmosphere, other times I've felt unwelcome and had that experience of the pub falling silent when you walk in. The beer selection is always great though.

This is a great old-school no-nonsense real ale pub for drinkers. The ales are constantly changing which is great for variety and there are usually at least two stouts or porters on as far as I know. Prices are very reasonable especially compared with more mainstream pubs in the centre.

There is good conversation around the bar and this is a real regulars' haunt. Music is mostly interesting and varied and they now have a new speaker system yay! But this is not a 'loud music' pub. Volume level is just right to be able to converse while getting slowly inebriated on whichever brew is going at the time. Oh, do not ask for Guinness or Stella. Plenty of pubs on the harbourside if that's...

Every time I go in here I witness a time-warp and I come out many hours(?)/days(?) later with a tummy full of delicious booze. Beer is very well kept, cheap, as well as providing some seasonal stunners. The staff attentive, easy going and full off interesting topics to jump-start the convo, would not be able to throw a stone without hitting a new pal. Keep your eyes peeled for the lovely little fire in winter and regular beer festivals, beer...

Ugh: I wanted to like this place a LOT more. The beers are varied, changing and well kept. But I just wanted some atmosphere. It feels like it's not sure if it is a bar, pub or recently converted shopfront. I would still come back, and hope other real ale fans do, as it is still many times better than ANY generic chain pub. I just wanted a pub feel. Maybe it will develop that. Anyway. I really should try another of their VERY...
