I have been to Pizzarova on multiple occasions, once here and once in their Clifton branch. Whilst a lovely spot for a Pizza, it does feel as though it lacks a certain quality that could make it an absolute staple of Bristol cuisine!
There is a lot to like about this Pizzarova restaurant. The place is well positioned and has a wonderful set-up with plenty of different seating options. It’s a great place whatever the occasion, be it a date, a group dinner, or just meeting a friend. I went most recently to catch up with a friend over lunch, and ate the Pepperoni, I believe, with hot honey.
The service is very good, and we felt very welcomed by everyone involved. However, there was a slight wait to be seated, and when we were seated it was on a relatively small table. This was fine, but we also had to wait a while for our order to be taken. It was busy and during Saturday lunch so this is excusable, and the servers were exceptionally kind throughout.
The food was great, it was a very enjoyable Pizza. It has a very unique style and feels like a mix between Italian and more western styles, but blends very well. I will say though, in an earlier experience the pizza was almost too sloppy - it was difficult to eat, even if the taste is fantastic.
In large, this restaurant has all the characteristics of a five star establishment, but misses on some marks due to not quite meeting the standard of other Italian restaurants with similar offerings in the local area. The prices are quite high, and for that reason, it is hard to justify giving any more than a four star review. The food is great, but not exceptional, and whilst the service attempts to be as good as possible, there were flaws when I went, that made the experience slightly less enjoyable than some other restaurants. Still, I will happily go back, as the food and atmosphere fits a specific vibe that is hard to replicate!
If you are in the area, I would absolutely recommend Pizzarova if you like a good Pizza, but avoiding absolute peak service hours will definitely make your experience...
Read moreAs a newcomer to Bristol, I was filled with a desire to explore this city, and undoubtedly, the best way to explore is through food. That's how my journey with Pizzarova began. At first, someone around me told me it was the best pizza place in Bristol, and I was a bit skeptical. But one leisurely afternoon, as I walked back to my apartment from Clifton, I happened to pass by Pizzarova. I remembered that I had seen this place before, but it was too crowded at the time, so I had missed it. Clearly, I wouldn't miss this opportunity again.
For my first Pizzarova order, I must admit that I'm not an expert in Italian cuisine 🇮🇹, but just to be safe, I went with the Margherita pizza. The staff was extremely friendly and chatty.
However, I have to mention that the wait for the food was agonizingly long. But it was all for Bristol's best pizza. This pizza had a thin crust with a rich sauce on top, and it was a spot-on Margherita pizza. The cheese added a different flavor dimension. Remember, perhaps the slow service could be seen as a drawback, but it also proves that they don't take any shortcuts with each pizza. If someone would choose Pizza Hut or Domino's because of this, I'm sorry, but we're not the same kind of people. You are soulless,...
Read moreWe decided to stop for a late lunch on our wandering exploration of Bristol, prior to visiting the Cathedral across the way... We had heard from our niece, who studies here, that the pizza's are great, so we decided upon pizza and a drink to keep us going. It wasn't that busy, but we felt as if the staff were slammed. We ordered at the bar, and paid prior to service, and I was slightly annoyed at being asked for a tip at the outset. I did, however, add one - but honestly, the "service" was not worth one. We each had our pizza, which was very nice, but my partner's ale was not the one on the menu which he'd ordered, and the cutlery was not very clean-looking. The dips which the guy who served me at the point of order had suggested didn't arrive with our food, and when we asked another waiter he passed two containers out the window to us, both with lids on... It felt almost as if we were in the way of their tasks. There was no pleasant chat, and not once did a member of staff stop and give us their full attention.
Next time we're in Bristol we'll try somewhere else, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try this location yourself - the food, as I say, is pretty good and we might have just visited...
