Parking in the area was a problem as most of it seemed to be permits. Got in to quite a long wait for food and I made the error of arriving very hungry which made me feel shaky before food arrived. Staff were really nice but seemed overly busy so didn't really have time to engage with our group. Could be a different vibe off peak. I think I probably ordered the wrong dish. Went for chicken salad and chips. Chips were very overdone (I'd normally send that back but had waited so long I'd gone past caring) and very small salad had tiny bits of what seemed to be bland reheated chicken. Wasn't what I'd envisioned at all at that price point. I wanted a healthier meal so burger or fry up were a big no for me. Other brunch type dishes did seem to look much better but I didn't fancy eggs and the menu was 70% egg. Had visited previously for Sunday lunch and wasn't overly impressed with that either. A very noisy crowd arrived and the roast was a bit shy of veg. For the price point I'd expected much more meat...

Been here 3 or 4 times now, every time this place puts itself to shame. either overcooked food or missing items. Today the mushrooms tasted of garlic and the black pudding was only ½ a slice and so well cooked I couldn't put my fork into it, same with the bubble and squeak. The sausage was full of meat which can be nice if its cooked correctly but here it was so so dry. The waitress asked if everything was ok even before we had taken a mouthful and not one of them asked if we wanted another drink, the cook was so busy talking to the staff its no wonder the food was dry and over cooked. The Malgo breakfast for £9 is way over priced for 1 sausage and bacon and then 2 eggs and ½ a slice of black pudding bubble, squeak, mushrooms, toast and a tomato which we said we didn't want but didn't get asked if we wanted anything in its place. Surely a drink should be included in this price.Your trying to be something your not. Wont be back 2...

Had pre-booked a table in advance. Staff didn’t acknowledge me when I walked in, even though I was standing in front of them over the bar. Ended up just sitting down ourselves.

We had a big group (10), but had pre booked and were asked to pre order our food, which is fine. But despite that, we didn’t even get our coffees for over an hour.

When I asked when they would come, two members of staff basically just shrugged at me and said ‘we are busy’. It’s annoying when they use busy as an excuse when I booked about a month before and pre ordered. Don’t let in more people than you can handle. But it wasn’t even full either.

Because it took so long to get our food, the owner offered us our coffees for free. But to be honest, my main issue is how rude and dissinterested most of the staff I interacted with were, and the fact we were made pre order and it made...

Brunch at The Malago on North Street is a must-try! We indulged in their perfectly poached eggs and a hearty full English brekkie ☕️🍳 @The Malago #bristol #bristoluk #brunchtok #bristolfood #bristolguide #fyp #foryou

We had a lovely dining experience at The Malago today. We opted for the vegan arancini for starters which was delicious, creamy and very umami. Followed by the vegan Wellington roast lunch. The roast veg (creamed leeks, red cabbage, green cabbage, roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots, plus Yorkshire puddings) were delicious! We've been looking for a great vegan Sunday roast for a while having visited The Bank Tavern about a year ago - which, for anyone who doesn't know it, has an extremely long waiting list so it's basically impossible to eat there unless very lucky with cancellations. The meal today rang a very similar bell to the meal we ate at the Bank Tavern. A warm, joyful, friendly restaurant serving delicious wine also (I enjoyed the Primitivo today). Very impressed, with many thanks to The Malago :)

Called into The Malago this morning, while I was in between jobs and feeling peckish. I was greeted with a beautiful smile from the lady behind the bar, as she welcomed me in. I ordered a traditional breakfast while I sat in a window seat with the sun beating in, blissfully on my back. Looking around, there was a lively mix of young families, couples, girlfriend's having breakfast and myself. My breakfast arrived in minutes, and I must say it was the best breakfast I have had in a very long time. I sat, drinking my cappuccino, with my foot tapping merrily away to Johnny Cash and other such Legends, playing in the background. I must say guys absolutely 5☆. Fantastic service - Fantastic food - Fantastic vibe... What more could a guy ask for, on a brisk and sunny February morning in Bristol? Awesome.
