This little gem of a cafe.been a few times for sandwiches. Went yesterday for the first time in over 20 years! I kid you not. Not only did I recognise a few of the staff from there/other cafes that were around then, but the menu and sight of the food was exactly the same! I ordered braised steak and it waslike Stiffado just exactly as I remembered it and OMG the chips 🥰 Epic. Just legendary. I was worried to re visit a childhood hero but I was not disappointed. Total timewarp experience with AMAZING food! Cannot recommend strongly enough, can’t believe same owner since I was a little kiddie...

So disappointed ... After years of enjoying meals at the Beefeater since the 70's, today I was sorely disappointed, we ordered the Shepherds Pie, as usual it looked great, but when I tried to find the meat under a deep portion of potato it was as though someone had used a butter knife to spread it.
