I really struggle to find anything much to say about this new bar/ restaurant than at least a double WOW !!!! There was quite a few people in from all over the UK when I called in to check it out having been given a flyer in town. Sooo impressed!!! Whoever had the brain child for this venture has really pulled out all the stops, its immaculate, beautiful classy but quirky decor, the most delightful staff & some of the best looking food I wished I'd not had a meal before I came out !! I chatted to a few 🍮 who all said the same thing that they loved the food, it was really well presented and good portion sizes & had been delicious. One couple from down South somewhere even had the cheek to say it wasn't what they expected in Yorkshire!!! We might still have our love of dogs & wear flat caps but it's got a very definite sense of style about it & who's not had a Yorkshire Pudding?? So if this new bar hasn't got an amazing future ahead of it I'll be gobsmacked , there's plans for plenty of live acts, DJ etc etc & sure someone mentioned Elvis ?? All the very best guys, you've set up an exceptional venue & expect to be calling for dinner with friends very soon :-)) I've called in a few times since my 1st random visit and have things moved on fast or what !!!! I've some very long standing friends, call them the 'Older Souls' who like myself are now just retired, still enjoy a social life and so we should after having to work for an extra 6 yrs before we should have finished!! Sorry this is most definitely NOT a political rant !! We still like to do a bit of out & about and I've bumped into a few in here which really says it all. The Watchmakers really is the in place to be in town, no 2 ways about it. Handcooked food, nothing frozen and all prep'd by the delightful Tom and his guys. Eric the owner & his lovely wife were both joining in the fun (?) by working just as hard as every member of their team by choice, not sitting on their pretties raking in any profits which to me is an absolute breath of fresh air these days. A new DJ called John who'd travelled all the way from Nottingham and was doing a top notch job which many were joining in with & certainly enjoying. WOW !!! Have you moved on at a pace of knots young Eric and 🧢 off to you lad !! You & your family laid a 👋 of a lot on the ⚟ to set up 👆 this bar/restaurant and its paying off big 🐛 style and so it should, Well done to everyone8 concerned with this venture, my definite No 1 slot in Halifax (not by the sea but who knows what the Council has up it's sleeve at the mo ???) 🥂 x P.S. I'd an unexpected surprise visit last night as my flaming train blobbed so do we wait or pop up to the Watchmakers?? I knew it was their new Northern night but wasn't planning to go then. We're we delighted to have had to make an unexpected STOP ✋️ 🫸 🫷 😀 Wed the best time & really danced ourselves....... a he'll of a lot 😆 Lots of lovely friends around & a few wonderful 😮 including a couple I met in Bradford many moons ago, doing guess what ?? Dancing but it was Bradford then where I went to our clubs but to work in the day then Northern at night 🌙 An excellent DJ team who I've not seen since the Irish Club finished 😀 So still wonderful bar staff who worked extremely hard to keep everything shipshape & the best folk ever are our local Northern Soulers & DJs !!! I visited Watchmakers Northern soul last Sunday as an old friend Graham had a guest spot. He said he'd not done it for 30 years but he's definitely not lost his touch! It was a brilliant night except for the heat and although I took quite a few photos because of Bluetooth, WiFi etc hardly any came out but I've put other few I have. Mark and the test of the lads, a brilliant night, thank you 😊 xx

This old pub has been revamped many times and had many different names since it was the brass cat many years ago. Looks like the new owners have spent a lot of cash, it looks good , and the the fit and finish is high quality. Nice relaxed vibe. All the usual beers and largers, would have liked to have a few cask ales though. Slightly expensive, but definitely worth a look .

Found this place by mistake and what a find it was. Normally this isn't my kind of place but we were coaxed in by what i assume was the owner and certainly wasn't let down. The food was very good indeed, well cooked and plentiful all washed down with a pint of beaverton neck oil which wasn't too fizzy or cold. All this for £20 ish was an absolute bargain, brilliant 👍

Chef very unprofessional, shouting and bawling at young lad behind bar in hearing distance of customers.

Excellent service from young lad behind bar who is a credit. Took our orders to then have the owner/chef shout at him in full hearing distance of customers because the ?manager/chef hadn’t prepared the meals (not sure what he was doing as there was only 1 customer other than us) . No wonder there’s hardly any customers, owner/chef needs to reflect on his attitude. The chef was shouting at the young lad for his attitude which was incredibly ironic.

Young lad behind the bar was professional and provided excellent service. Older guy in the back needs to pull his finger out and stop blaming everyone else for his problems. Young lad would make a better manager.

Won’t be returning. Beautifully decorated and drinks were...

Visited here today (Sunday 12pm) first time been here since renovation and change of name and WOW this place has been decorated and furnished beautifully. We were greeted with a warm welcome, a nice varied menu for both drinks and food available at great prices. We all ordered food including chicken strips, chilli cheese loaded fries, hot beef ciabatta with roast potatoes and gravy and a Childs Sunday chicken roast all fantastic, great portions, all was cooked fresh to perfection and was so delicious! We just couldn't believe we were the only ones in hence why I had to leave a review, cannot praise highly enough how much we enjoyed our visit today, anyone in Halifax area looking for somewhere to eat or grab a drink in nice surroundings get yourself here pronto. Thanks to all staff at watchmakers we will be back again...
