The Old Cock — Restaurant in Calderdale

Good sport, good drink, lovely well done our place. Lots of local history including a room upstairs, (the Oak Room) - not many people know this, where a meeting was held in 1853 and the original Halifax Building Society, (Halifax Permanent Benefit Building Society, it was called, originally, then) was founded. The manageress/landlady is very good, lovely, and the staff are very capable, full of help, knowledge, ability and great. The pub was done out a few years ago, has a lovely games room with lovely TV screens for watching all tv screening of sports. The music, comfiness, service, history and smartness of the whole place, make this, one of the best pubs in Halifax,...

Just had a surprise 50th birthday party . The venue was perfect was left to dress it up to my liking , had photos running through 2 of the screens ,Leanne the manager was superb , very accomodating to all our needs , making sure we wasn't without anything. Drinks great prices , plenty of space in and out. The staff were extremely patient considering the amount of requests for different music. Everyone loved the atmosphere... Leanne was a real diamond to deal with. Polite well mannered. Nothing too much trouble. We will be back for defo. Thanks all for making a surprise birthday to...

Nice little boozer, nice staff, lovely seated accommodation outside. Plenty of space. Nice flooring. Shame about the music, Not my cup of tea. I prefer house music to rock music anytime, can tolerate Soft rock like Kaisers and Shed 7. But hard Rock no. Need to change that. I know people will like that but not for me tar.
