Downtown cafe bar & Bistro — Restaurant in Calderdale

Honestly apart from the food which even then was not good, I would give this cafe a 0 star! I came in with my husband and off the bat we were treated so poorly and were told rudely to go find a seat if we can find one. Upon sitting down and looking through the menu, the floor was filthy with pieces of food right next to my seat. I felt sick just being there. When the waitress had come round, she was clearly able to see that we were waiting to order she walked past us multiple times until I eventually called her. After taking our order, it took 30 minutes to cook our food. We had gone to ask multiple times as the waitress mentioned it wouldn’t be too long. One thing I was disappointed by was the fact that more people had arrived and ordered their food and had received this before ours had even come out. My husband went to main desk where the lady there was incredibly rude when asked how long the food would take. I believe the reason we were treated so poorly is because we are people of colour. I feel I can wholeheartedly say this cafe and the staff within were racist. As the only people of colour within the cafe, people were looking as if they had never seen anyone of colour. The staff along treated us as if we were invisible. I am appalled by this service and will for sure be never returning. The worst place we've ever had the displeasure of eating in. We were going to go to Subway but instead opted for a local business to support a small business. Generally seems clean. We were advised to be seated and the tables were cramped and we were next to the cleaning buckets and toilet. Upstairs toilet was broken and seating upstairs freezing. We were on a tight time schedule so asked how long food woyld be. Polite waitress said 10 minutes. We waited 25 minutes and had to chase our food. Our food happened to 'just be ready'. We ordered a hot beef steak, Canadian steak and a sausage bacon sandwich. The steaks were processed meat slices from a low budget and low quality meat. The bacon was full of fat. The food was cold. We refused the Canadian steak and had to share the 'food' we could eat.the females of the cafe, particularly the young blonde waitress, were polite but the food is a complete catfish from the awful slop we received and thick lumpy gloopy gravy. We weren't charged for the food we rejected. I used to visit T.J's regularluy...their 'all day brekkie' at a very good price, was exceptional! Service has always been good.

However, I haven't been for a while. I thought, a fortnight ago, that it seemed a bit pricey. Today it did too... So I queried it! I bought a jacket potato and a coffee for £13 ( more than I'd expected) and found they'd added 95p for an extra shot of coffee, which I hadn't asked for AND they'd added an extra £2 service charge, without asking! So that's £3 extra.
