Been going to this restaurant for many years, but not been since before lockdown until yesterday. We were a family of 7 and arrived on time for our booking at 5pm (opening time, so were one of the first tables seated). First course came fairly promptly, (no lovely dough balls with starters as before, just some thinly sliced fresh bread). After starters were cleared away we waited 1 hr 20 mins for main course and that was only after we had flagged down a member of staff to ask how much longer we would have to wait. When the food did finally arrive, it was nothing like the lovely standard we had enjoyed in the past. My Carabonarra was dry and not creamy. Pizzas weren't nice I am told. My daughter in law asked for goats cheese and mushrooms to be added to her pizza - it came with no mozzarella cheese, no mushrooms and some wilted spinach leaves. My son in law had pepperoni pizza and said it didn't taste very nice (he actually left a few slices as he wasn't enjoying, which is not him). Other family members said they felt like the tomato dressing was more like tomato soup. When the bill came they had charged for a portion of chips that had never been served (ordered 2 porrions only 1 was served). All in all a very disappointing experience. Safe to say, we won't be going or recommending them again. Two stars given for decor and...
Read moreUnfortunately had a poor experience tonight. Been regular diners for years and family came from Wales to eat again. Starters came fast however we were first in and likely first to order. Mozzarella sauce poor. We then waited over an hour for our mains. People around being served coming in later with large tables as us, 7 people. On asking how long the food would be we got an unhappy response of its coming. I feel that maybe our order had been missed. After the meals no one asked how the food was, staff quite rude and food on bill that didn't arrive and extras that had been ordered completely missing from meal. Unfortunately will not be going again.
Edit- Unfortunately we can not reply to the restaurants response to us which is strange. Very unprofessional response from a manager on the other reviews family had written. I don't feel we were unreasonable as others around that came in later managed to have both starters and mains and leave before us. I would typically apologise if we were keen and felt we waited longer than we did but on this instance I won't in view of the other disgusting responses we have had. The response doesn't even address the food and miserable staff bar one waiter/waitress who was smiling. How will you address issues and know what went well and didn't if staff do not ask how...
Read moreWe were suppose to go to another restaurant for our date night but unfortunately it wasn’t open (I really should have checked in advance) but we proceeded to look around for another local restaurant.
We found Julio’s a short walk from where we currently were and without a booking, went inside and were seated immediately at a smart table. The staff were very accommodating and friendly.
We ordered some drinks and shortly after our food. The waitress brought us some free fresh warm bread and butter which was a nice little bonus and it was very nice.
I ordered the King Prawns for starters, Lobster Reveoli with prawns in a creamy sauce for my main. To top it all off I had a white chocolate orange cheesecake.
The food seemed to get better as the dishes went on. The starter was very nice, the main was absolutely delicious and I rarely say that I might add. The pudding however was nothing short of exquisite, it was probably the best cheesecake I’ve ever had!
All in all, it cost me and my girlfriend around £35 each for a starter, main, pudding and a cider a piece. We had a wonderful time and also a fantastic first time experience. We will definitely be coming again.
