Lovely location and beautiful building, however, not the best place to visit if you have an allergy and want to double check you’re safe!
Took me 20 minutes to order as I had two members of staff (really kind waiter and nice lady taking orders and making coffees) asking about whether my meal was Dairy Free…
However, the manager (i assume he was the manager) was getting ‘fed up’ of being asked and kept informing me he had ‘been through this’ with me and that he ‘cannot help if something happens as there is dairy in the kitchen’.
I totally understand that kitchens have dairy in them, as every kitchen at every restaurant/cafe I go to… however, he acted like it was a chore and was not accommodating whatsoever!
The lady at the front of house and the waiter would get 5 stars, but the manager has lost them 3 due to his attitude and lack of care.
Food was gorgeous though, recommend for the food, just don’t let the manager ‘undermine’ you or have an attitude if you’re asking about an...
Read moreMichaelhouse Cafe has fast become my favourite place to stop for a coffee in Cambridge. It's in an old church! The architecture is wonderful. I really enjoy sitting upstairs and marvelling at the roof and the stained glass.
The food is delicious. The coffees are consistently well made. The service is fast, efficient, friendly and welcoming.
There are plenty of seats but it does get quite busy. Students tend to take the tables with a coffee and a laptop and work most of the day. There's a bit of outdoor seating as well but I haven't used that yet. Like I said I like to sit upstairs - the wooden spiral staircase is awesome - and just marvel at the architecture with my drink and treat of the week.
Highly recommend visiting here. The prices are reasonable (£4.02 for a decent sized slice of Basque Burnt Cheesecake), the portion sizes are good, the staff are lovely, the venue is clean and tidy, and it's just a really nice place to sit and...
Read moreThe food is good and locally grown, which I really appreciated :). The service was nice, efficient, welcoming.
I really appreciated the fact that there was no ambiance music, it allowed me to have a quietish lunch. Thank you! The surroundings are lovely and give a peaceful atmosphere.
I had a soup which was very hot (as a soup should be 👍!), which I really liked. The quiche on the other hand, although very good itself, was a bit small. I wish it had been a bit bigger. The side salad had a vinegar dressing which was very lovely. The salad was a generous portion.
Great selection of hot drinks! My chaï latte was very enjoyable. You can change the milk as well.
The drinks and foods are reasonably priced :). Gluten free items available too!
There is a water fountain to refill your reusable water bottle; this is great :).
You get a 10% discount if you present the leaflet of the visit of Great St...
