I don’t generally like writing bad reviews and I can see from other good reviews that perhaps this was an off day but regardless it marred my experience and I won’t be back. My experience relates to the public treatment of your staff. Whilst I was waiting I witnessed two incidences of staff being verbally humiliated in front of customers. The first was a young lad who dared to ask for a 5minute break and instead of talking to him if it wasn’t the right time and suggesting going later, he was loudly berated in front of the entire restaurant several times and then was laughed at behind the counter. The second instance was a girl coming in late, instead of taking her to the side and having a quiet word she was shouted at in front of everyone and again was talked about behind the till in front of people waiting for their orders. Utterly unprofessional. You take your staff out of earshot of your paying customers and talk to them you don’t loudly humiliate them in front of everyone. Bad practice and bad management.
Unfortunately when I eventually got my food it ended up in the bin. The batter on the fish was floury and the chips were pale and undercooked. Disappointing after having to witness the above that the food was as bad as the management.
From other reviews perhaps they were having an off day but… this is my...
Read moreThere is no better way to charge your energy levels after a wild day in town than a delicious seafood platter served by Seafarer Canterbury!
The food, the location, the people running the place are absolutely stunning and the taste is above expectations!
We also loved the atmosphere and truly amazed by genuinely clean and nicely decorated indoor setting. One will immediately recognise how authentic each and every piece in this place and won’t miss the details such as the corner seating area and its wooden rails which belonged to a Wales church in old times and the owners were so kind to tell us the story behind it. We thought it is a perfect match with its decent and beautiful neighbour, the Canterbury Cathedral.
I don’t have a photo to document my face but the food, calming interiors and hospitality of Seafarer Canterbury made me much more presentable for the...

Came in to order a classic fish and chips with garden peas.
Peas served in a wet mug? It's the first time I've ever seen it.
The fried cod had a pasty consistency, I believe clumps of flour remained before going into the frying stage. On top of that I couldn't finish the cod as it was undercooked.
Chips are question mark, some golden others completely BROWN. That means new ones are mixed with old ones.
Tables are sticky and dirty, atmosphere and service is good but the way this diner had been set up is just wrong.
If you sit at the back you can see what they are doing in their back- kitchen, staff has to go back and forth from there.
For the same price, you can go opposite and have an "Ocean Fish and chips for 16£", it's 10 times better.
Save yourself some money and...
