First of all, I'm shocked by these reviews! As soon as we arrived, I could see it was a busy thriving place. Despite having advanced booking there were only 2 available tables left for us - one being in front of a large table of loud kids celebrating and the other completely out of the way on the side going towards the toilets (but not near enough to cause a problem). To start, it was clear there was not much of a system going on with the service as we had a different waiter for all courses, and they took forever to serve drinks. Looking at the menu, I couldn't believe how overpriced everything was, but due to the reviews, I was expecting good things. I had the half and half garlic bread, and my friend had wings. After almost half hour wait for them to arrive, the wings were some dry shriveled overcooked things with bbq dripped over them and as for the garlic bread, take a look at the picture and decide for yourself. Needless to say, we were NOT looking forward to mains . After over half an hour plus wait for the mains plus to clear the table from starters, we had to flag down someone and ask how long. When the pasta arrived, we were even more disappointed. It was literally £2 penne pasta with a tin of dolmio sauce slopped over . Not even covering it in parmesan or a load of black Pepper could give it some flavour, and for almost £20?! The total bill price was almost £60 for two s*** mains and starters and two drinks. The best part of the meal was my prosecco. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone whatsoever

Randomly visited with my daughters. Staff were friendly enough but took a very long time to bring us the bill at the end even after asking them to, which meant a very bored 5yr old getting disruptive. Food was nice but it's quite a costly restaurant, so it's more worth a special treat rather than a last minute eat out option. Cosy set up and nice for a more grown up meal. (Definitely not wheelchair friendly)

Just a note to thank you and your staff for a very lovely evening – the food was exceptional(starter, dinner and dessert),and the service was excellent. All of us(8people)thoroughly enjoyed it and there wasn’t a single complaint. We will make sure we plan our next “do” there again.so lovely to spend an evening at Michelangelo 5*

We booked a table in February for a table for 2 on Wednesday 16th of April at 745pm, our reservation was acknowledged and we was looking forward to celebrating our wedding anniversary. We arrived at the restaurant on 16/04/25 after a long drive up from Leicestershire to find the restaurant was CLOSED! We tried ringing but an answering service cut in! We managed to get a table across the road at CASA ROMANA. The service, quality of food and value for money at Casa Romana was second to none and they saved the day! A big thank you to everyone at Casa Romana. So we thought maybe theirs a good reason for Michelangelo restaurant to be closed possibly because of an emergency ect therefore we sent them a email asking for an explanation but NO reply! We sent a second email explaining that if we didn’t receive a response we would post our disappointment on trip advisor but ideally would rather give them the benefit of our doubt! You can see from this post they NEVER had the decency to reply! We have been going to Michelangelo for over 20 years and this is the respect we have received, well NEVER AGAIN! We will now be going to CASA ROMANA when up in Carlisle. Michelangelo’s DONT deserve to run a restaurant if this is what they think of their customers, our advice is steer clear if you don’t want the risk of having your special...

Avoid at all cost. Rude and foul mouthed owner/manager. Looking forward to experience an evening full of Italian sophistication we booked a table at Michelangelos. We arrived at 8pm and our orders were taken and drinks served by 8:15, brilliant. However we sat sipping our drinks for nearly an hour with no sign of our starters. We informed the owner or manager that we are leaving but will pay for the drinks which by now were warm and had gone flat. The owner disputed this by calling us liars and hurled abuse at us for wanting to leave. The owner continued to vent his anger at us using some very colourful language as we left his establishment extremely disappointed. The next morning I was releived to wake up and not find a horses...
