Menu sounds really interesting and tasty so we had high hopes. Staff were lovely I must say however food a complete disappointment so I’m quite confused how this place got almost 5 star reviews… our starters came out in literally about 3 mins after putting in our orders which me and my partner found concerning. Maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen but the food tasted like it came out of a tesco ready meal. The pork belly bites were chewy and as if they were just dipped in shop bought and very basic hoisin sauce. There was nothing authentic about this place whatsoever. Tofu bites 100% came with shop bought ‘just add water’ Katsu curry paste. Honestly felt I was robbed of the £40 I spent just on 5 starters. Would be extremely surprised if the sauces they used were made from scratch. The Diet Coke my partner ordered tasted like it came from tesco own brand 1L bottle definitely not real Diet Coke. Very surprised how busy it was in there.
Think this place really needs to rethink the quality of their food instead of drowning it in shop bought sauces and charging above average prices for it. If they put just as much care in their quality as they did to presentation I think it would be an...
Read moreSo disappointed. Headed 26 miles to this place which online looked and seemed really good. However we had a 10min wait on entrance, nobody came to the door buzzer so we sat ourselves and took menus. Finally noticed but were ignored even longer. Both staff clearly struggling with knowledge and information about the menu. Wrong started came, amendment to the main was ignored and protested by the chef so the portion was small and without any veg as promised. Also says on their website if it isn't spicy they will amend it. Ordered spicy chips, they brought plain, I asked for the extra spice and was charged an extra £1.50. Pad thai was very bland. Cocktails very small, gave away a beer, staff more interested sitting on their phones and having a chat. Absolute joke, I don't understand why people have rated this as 4.5 stars. Such a bad holiday meal, be embarrassed Royal Outpost! £80 of regret but I will end on a positive. The tofu bun was good, massaman sauce was very nice and I liked the paint job of the bar. Only nice things to be said...
