We were recommended 'The Last Zebra' by some employees at the nearby local Hotel Chocolat as we were on holiday and wanted some good, local, independent food. I'm pleased to say that we found this here. First impressions is of a very stylish restaurant with the centre piece being the natural light coming from the skylight which made the venue so bright and welcoming. The music selection added to the atmosphere which just made it feel like a good place to eat. The ordering process was a tad confusing. The menu says order drinks from the app but then whilst doing that, an employee also came over to take a drinks order. Ordering and service was at a good pace and we could see into the kitchen and see how clean it was. I ordered the Confit duck which was delicious. The Hoisin gravy needs to be bottled and sold as it was amazing. The pickled onion rings made so much sense and no idea why no where else has thought of this! My partner ordered the Cumbrian burger which was also very delicious. During our meal, our server swapped to another employee 'Emily' who was fantastic! Emily provided friendly professional customer service and a really good recommendation for dessert of the Vanilla and Blueberry Crรจme Brulee which rounded off our meal perfectly. Overall, a great experience and a special thank you to Emily for the excellent service and recommendation!

Heading back South from Scotland, a trio of us decided after a weekend of eating junk at a bike rally, service station grub just wasn't going to cut it... so we took a slight detour into Carlise. Having never visited Carlisle before, we had no idea where to go but spotted this place because I liked the name ๐ Stopped to look at the menu outside and another guest who'd just arrived told us "the food is great, if you need convincing" We were sold and she WAS NOT WRONG! The menu was varied and quirky and I basically wanted everything! I went for the Salt and Chilli Confit Duck and the Vietnamese Belly pork. Both dishes were absolutely to die for! (Our friend was also very impressed with his steak, which was cooked to perfection) I wouldn't pop this in the cheap eats category but i can definitely say you get what you pay for, it's absolutely worth it! (Even saying that, it's really not badly priced!) The staff were friendly, welcoming, attentive, and efficient. The restaurant itself was clean and trendy, they had a huge selection of alcoholic drinks. Lovely setting and atmosphere, would be lovely for a treat, although we didn't feel out of place or looked down on in all our biker gear! Highly recommend giving it a go. I would 100%return when coming back to Carlisle (Or passing through from Scotland again!)

What a find. Covering a bucket list item to travel the Settle-Carlisle Railway, we needed to find a lunch place in Carlisle. We just missed arriving in time for David's Place, but they are such nice people they make recommendations. Hence we ended up at The Last Zebra. It's a funky casual bar and restaurant, so such appetizers hit the menu as Stone Baked Brie with bacon bits, a strip of piquant caramel onion marmalade laid down the middle, all of which you scoop up with toasted slices of country sourdough bread. Definately try the main course "Sea Bass Hash" which is pan seared sea bass served on a hash of crispy potatoes, pancetta, spinach, poached egg, chimichurri & caper and dill sauce, It seemed to come from a chef who had left a big-city, big-time hotel for the bucolic beauty of Cumbria, A waiter told me the chef's last gig was at a local pub! Go figure. It was deliciously creative, either way. Recommended.

My first visit, a Friday evening, was to meet friends for a drink before heading off to an engagement. The door staff was friendly and reassuring. The staff at the bar, where we sat, were helpful and provided a knowledgeable service. There's a good range of beverages available and a very impressive gin selection. I like to find something I haven't tried before, and I was absolutely not disappointed with my choice. I observed numerous busy, pre booked tables of people enjoying their food. I would absolutely recommend early booking for this venue. I would definitely go again for drinks, and I would like to try the food too.

Great place for proper craft beer. Stopped off in Carlisle en route back south from a snowboarding/hiking trip and fancied a few nice beers after a wander round town. This place has a good ever changing selection of craft beers on tap from the likes of Verdant, Northern Monk, Deya etc (close to 20 taps, some regular options and some varying guesties). Staff all super friendly and although it's more restauranty than pub it was a nice place to sit at the bar and drink nice beer. Craft beer prices were what you'd expect and food looked good though I didn't eat.

Came here last minute on Sunday evening. We rang to make sure they were still serving food . Last orders being 8.45. Lovely service. And didn't seem bothered we were late customers. The boyfriend and I got the serving plate each ( cause we are piggies ๐) I got the hallumi chips, BBQ wings and prawn thai. All mini potions. Delicious. He got hallumi chips, pork cheek and wings but spicy. He said they were too spicy but hey everyone to there own. Will defo be here again
