An excellent, small, personal and authentic Italian restaurant right in the centre of Carlisle and near enough to the station to walk in 2 minutes. The food is really good quality, at a very reasonable price and served with a cheery smile; the staff are very attentive and ensure that you’re enjoying the meal as you go along in a genuine way. My only slight complaint would be that we were in a constant cold draught from the ever opening front door, which made the meal a little uncomfortable. This could have been avoided by using the outer door as well. The place is very popular on a Friday evening and I would recommend booking.

It was my first visit with friends on a Saturday evening. We made reservations as it's a small venue. The food was fabulous and filling, meaning there was no room for dessert. I opted for the TORTELLONI BOLOGNESE "Pockets of fresh pasta packed with a savoury meat filling accompanied with bolognese sauce." The facilities were very good and clean. There are steps up to the seating area, and the restrooms are located beyond and to the rear of the venue. There's outdoor seating available for the adventurous alfresco eaters.

Friendly and attentive staff, food was good and tasty but didn't blow my socks off. My wife's steak however was apparently gorgeous. Would happily go again, next time I'll maybe try the steak 😄🥩. The atmosphere was loud when full, but it's a small contained space, if you're harder of hearing you may not enjoy it as much as peak times. Should also good for those with slight mobility issues, there is one small step towards the back of the restaurant towards the toilets.

Came for lunch midway through a charter steam train journey.

The other half and I always share our meals so I can testify all the food was good. The other half had garlic mushrooms for starter and lasagne for main, both were brilliant! I had the bruschetta to start and bolognese pizza for main (double bread I know, but when in Rome! - sorry for the pun!) It was more than delicious and very filling as you can imagine!

They cater for children too, which is a big plus for us. The little one had a smaller portion of the spaghetti bolognese from the main menu and he ate all of it. Hes a slow eater, and we had a train to catch, so we asked it to come out with the starters and it was no problem at all 😁

Beer and wine were very reasonably priced as well - Peroni £4.40 a pint in a restaurant so I was more than happy!

Will definitely come again next...

The most authentic Italian restaurant I've experienced in a long time. We came to lunch here after a tiring 6hrs trip from London. We were welcomed into a warm ambience. Our food was served in no time. We couldn't fault anything, from fresh original ingredients to the impeccable attentive and polite service. Pizza was yummy, crispy and light. Coffee was superb. Prices are very decent would happily pay more! Lastly, one can judge how a restaurant is run by the standards of it's washroom facilities - here they were fresh clean, not to mention the decent soap and toilet paper! If the owners are this thoughtful in which is usually a neglected area, then it is easy to trust that you are in good honest hands.

A hidden gem in the Carlisle area and highly recommended!

Thank you to Roberto...

Booked a table for a table of 8 had a conversation with staff 3 times to explain that 1 person in my party was in a motorised wheelchair. Staff assured me that there was disabled access to the restaurant so that would not be an issue. Arrived for meal and realised that there was no way that the disabled person could gain access. Asked staff if they had ramp apparently it is a listed building so there was nothing they could do. Staff very unhelpful and rude didn’t even offer us a table outside although tables were vacant. I’m absolutely disgusted as I had a party of 8 and it was Friday nite and a hen nite so had to ring round town to see what anyone had available thankful the staff at pizza express could not do enough for us and were welcome to...
