I used to come here quite a lot before I moved away from the area and I have to say its gone massively downhill in the few years between visits. To start with every single table was dirty. The tables were sticky and covered in old plates and drinks. There were a lot of empty tables so we expected to find at least one reasonable one. In the end we just shifted a bunch of dirty plate onto another table and I wiped it clean with an antibacterial wipe i had it my bag. We would have walked out right then if we weren't so pushed for time. The whole time we were sat there, not one member of staff cleared or wiped any tables.
My partner ordered a burger whilst I ordered Hunters chicken. I bought a side dish of onion rings to share between us too and I have to say thank god I did or we would have left even more starving than we were. I placed the order via the app and my partner honestly thought I'd pranked him and ordered him a children's meal the portion was so tiny. I had to show him the receipt. The burger was miniscule and gone within two mouthfuls. There couldn't have been more than 10 chips on either of our plates. I'd think it was the chains standard size but I'd actually ordered the exact same meal a few weeks earlier in a branch near where I live and it was double in size. In fact I couldn't even finish that meal! That was even the reason why I ordered it again as I had enjoyed it so much previously, so to have this tiny sad excuse for a meal appear before us was very disappointing.
Safe to say we won't bother going back to that branch again...
Read moreYou cant beat Wetherspoons for a good ale at a very reasonable price. However, it always seems to come at a social cost of most of the clientele. This place was certainly no exception.Far from it. Outside were a group of about four people, sloshed, with one tooth between them, and every other word they said consisted of four letters.Quality. It was like something from a Dickensian novel. I had just left my wife and wanted a jimmy. This was the only pub open so early.Due to the total lunacy of Covid rules it was a nightmare to get in.Perhaps that should have been the blessing. When I got through the door a barman started barking orders,so I put him in his place.Another member of staff asked me to find a table and they would take my order.I couldn't stand at the bar or anywhere. So due to Covid lunacy I had to sit at a table with a stranger who was obliging. I then waited and waited...no service. So I got up went to the toilet and left.In nearly 40 years of drinking in pubs I have never used a pubs toilet and left. I was delighted to get out of this place.Even the cockroaches were wearing macs.😀 I had no fear of getting Covid in there. It was the impetigo, scabies and black death that frightened me. Avoid this place like the plague or you really...
Read moreGone downhill. I use to come here a lot because the beer is cheap and cheerful. The food is reasonable too. However there is always a lack of staff especially at busy times. They seem to run out of stuff as well these days especially on Sundays. The other week my mum's fish was over cooked and the staff apologised and said it was due to the shortage of staff rushing round. A pathetic excuse! It is about time they sorted that problem out. I don't know how they cope during Gold Cup week!!! I always avoid them at that time. Even on quieter times there is a long wait at the bar. Not good enough! GET SOME MORE STAFF! People like myself will lose patience and stop coming here! The Moon Under Water, the other Cheltenham Wetherspoons on the Bath Rd is ok though. Much...
