Way too many other places to get coffee in this town. No need to financially support poor service & bad food. Businesses like this only start to care when the revenues drop. Service: You sit at a table. You scan the code to order. They don't tell you that you need an app to scan that code. Doesn't activate with your Android camera. Manager behind the bar didn't want to help me figure out how to do it. He only had an apple phone and couldn't be bothered. Points me to some menus on the wall that I can pick up myself. I figured if apps and codes were going to be the thing to deal with in coffee shops, I had better figure out how it works. I tried Lens and that worked after a delay. Apparently he has never spoken to someone with an Android. Food: Driest cinnamon roll I ever had. I didn't think it was even possible to get a cinnamon roll that dry. I managed to get about half of it down because I was hungry. Latte was ok. I got one tiny napkin to eat my sticky bun. Gave me a knife and a spoon. If I was supposed to eat it with a fork, they didn't give me one. I ate it with my fingers and thus needed more than one tiny napkin. I went back to the bar to request the napkins. Server pointed. Apparently I was supposed to know where they were. I also asked for water and was directed around the corner to the side of the restaurant where apparently there was a water station to get a glass and some water. I didn't want to leave my belongings unattended halfway across the restaurant and so I passed. Ambiance: Loud, and crowded with rude people.

This is a great spot for an anytime breakfast, with friends or on your own. They serve breakfast all day, but also have your usual lunch and tea time options - the baked goods looked very tempting. You order and pay for your food and drinks at the counter with your table number and then they bring it to you - nice that you don't have to worry about the bill afterwards. There are lovely big open windows with shade awning - perfect place to sit on a beautiful summer's day. It's not on a main road so you shouldn't be bothered by too much passing traffic. We were there on a late Monday morning - there was plenty of space / tables to choose from, but from what I hear it can get quite crowded on a Saturday. You can get coffee (and a pastry) to go here, but it's recommended that you bring your own cup. If you don't have one though, they do have a deposit-lending system for their travel cups, or you could just buy one from them. I love that they're environmentally conscience. The coffees were good - no complaints there - but the breakfasts were amazing! Decent sized portions, lovely fresh spinach and micro greens with the eggs florentine, super tasty bacon, and divine scotch pancakes. Mmm, I feel warm and happy inside just thinking about them.

Very Highly recommended! Really friendly lovely helpful staff who go out of their way to look after you. I’m always made welcome. I’m really well looked after. So excellent customer service which is rare thing these days. I frequent this rather lovely establishment every day, and have done for the last 2 years. The coffee here is absolutely outstanding, (THE BEST COFFEE IN CHELTENHAM IMO) and I’ve drunk a lot of coffee. Cheltenham has an abundance of coffee shops but BTP is the very best. More importantly the coffee is CONSISTENTLY GOOD EVERY DAY. I’ve rarely had a bad coffee. The pastries are also excellent and are fresh and very tasty. Much better than elsewhere. The only downside is a regular customer who seems to stalk me on a daily basis, and is intent on trying to steal the newspaper from my hands!!

Edited. This was a 5 star rating, however I have since had to unfortunately change my opinion. I went there again this weekend with my partner as it was wonderful the first time we went. I ordered the American pancakes with bacon, and my partner, being vegetarian, ordered the vegetarian option for the sour dough and avocado. When our food arrived, my pancakes looked amazing. They were perfect and tasted even better. However, the problem was with my partners meal, as it came as the non veggie option, which was made obvious with the slice of bacon on top of the dish. My partner said to the waiter "I'm sorry we ordered the veggie option", and he turned quickly without saying anything, just with a rather stern looking face, and he presumably went to replace the dish. Worryingly, he was back in a mere few seconds with a very familiar looking plate. It was literally the exact same plate of food, except they removed the bacon. Now sure this is fine for some, but as other long time vegetarians may know, meat can make you rather nauseous and the fact that the fat had already dripped all over the tomatoes meant that it was no longer a vegetarian dish. Very disappointing, but may consider as long as issues like these are resolved properly, rather than chucking a piece of meat onto someone else's plate or in the bin. Original review: The food's brilliant! And more importantly it's dog friendly so my partner and I just ran around fussing...
