Firstly the food is great with a slightly more interesting menu than most chain pubs offer, and definitely better quality. The bar is great. Love the decor. Great drinks range. We come in often for a drink, as its a nice relaxed place. Reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the way certain staff care are when you come in for food. I've been in having both booked a table, few weeks ago, and having not booked, today. Both times I've been told to take a seat in the bar area and wait. First time, I arrived about 10 minutes before my booked slot, and was told I could not be seated early. Fair enough. Was told to take a seat and wait. Restaurant area was far from full. Went past our booking time and had to remind the staff member we were still waiting. He then decided to say it was a 45 minute wait for food. Didn't mention this when he told us to wait in the bar part. Today, we hadn't booked. I'm almost certain, the same member of staff came over to see us at the reception desk. Asked if we could have a table for 2. Again was told we had to sit and wait. Seemed a bit silly as restaurant was maybe only a 3rd full. Told us there was a 20 minute wait for food, which ee saidnwas fine. Eventually, after we had been sat a while and other people who came in after us had been seated we caught a different member of staff to ask when we would be seated. He seemed surprised we had been told to wait and said he could seat us straight away. Another couple who looked like they came to have food and were also told to take a seat and wait actually gave up waiting to be seated and left Cosy Club because of this bizarre waiting game. There is nothing given to you to indicate you are waiting for someone to seat you, for food. The staff member who told us to take a seat never bothered to tell anyone or come back to seat us himself. Not sure how staff are supposed to know your sat waiting to be taken and seated in the restaurant part, not just having a drink, if no one communicates this. Instead you feel rude having to ask staff yourself.

Dined at this very establishment for brunch at the weekend. The venue itself is lovely and wasn’t too busy with it only being midday. Service was quite slow with the above taken into consideration. Ordered a super berry smoothie which was nice but small for the price. A matcha latte which was apparently wonderful and very aesthetically pleasing Smashed avocado with extra hash browns Chorizo hash with extra halloumi. Both dishes were very tasty but as you can see, the portion sizes for the money are pretty abysmal. The super berry smoothie was also very small as was the hash. In reality I’d give this a 3.5/5 but Google doesn’t allow half stars. I wouldn’t go back personally as it’s expensive for tiny portions of food. That being said, the venue is really cool and the views from the balcony if you’re lucky enough to get a seat out there are great

Visited Cosy Club for breakfast today for Mother’s Day. We were greeted warmly, shown to a lovely table by the window with a view of the cathedral, our little one was promptly brought a highchair. Everything was explained about allergies (which our son has) and I could find everything I needed to get him what he’d like. Our drinks order was taken promptly, the server we had was lovely and she interacted with our son which was great. Food order was taken and the food was soon with us. Honestly the best breakfast & experience we have had dining out, everything was cooked to perfection. The quality of the produce was amazing and everything tasted so good! My son enjoyed his vegan breakfast, he’s never ate so much when dining out - he loved it! We are already talking about our next visit!

I've been to the Cosy Club, in Durham, a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed it. During 2 recent visits, the quality of the service and the overall dining experience surpassed my expectation. The 1st was how they handled my Mother's serious, and potentially life-threatening, nut allergy. Our meal in August was her first post-lockdown meal out. She was both anxious about being out again and also dining in an unfamiliar restaurant. The staff handled the evening with great sensitivity and patience. The food was excellent and, unlike many places I've eaten at with her, she wasn't made to feel like an inconvenience or (worse still) made to sign something, just in case she was accidentally served nuts and had an anaphylactic shock. The menu was explained, the kitchen staff were informed and our waiter returned and confirmed the precautions that had been taken. The 2nd was the brilliant night out I had to celebrate my birthday with 13 of my best friends this month. I honestly can't praise the whole team and the experience highly enough. We were seated at the table I wanted, everyone's food was served at the same time, it was delicious, hot, and no mistakes were made with orders. The staff were attentive and regularly checked that we were all ok for drinks or needed anything more. After the meal, a table was reserved for us in the extremely cosy cocktail bar, where we carried on the celebrations. It was a really special night and a wonderful way to celebrate my milestone birthday. Everyone had a brilliant time. I'm delighted that I chose the Cosy Club. It was perfect. All the staff have been great; however, it would be remiss of me not to mention Daniel, who, at every visit has provided...

Terrible. From the get go we (a party of 5) were ignored by staff. We were finally lead to a table after approaching a member of staff to inform them that we had a reservation. After we sat down we attempted to read the menu but unfortunately none of us had brought a torch which would allow us to actually read it. The drink selections are poor at best and priced far too high.

The food itself on paper was well thought and sounded great but it would probably have been beat to just eat the menu itself as the leftover food stains from others would have been more satisfying.

I had ordered a blue cheese burger which was to be served with a pickle on the side. Alas, no pickle to be seen and no staff to question as to why I had no pickle. Also, you'd think that a "blue cheese burger" would make the blue cheese the main attraction of the burger but no, another let down. The cheese was not blue cheese and seemed to be pre-sliced from a packet and most likely cheddar at the most.

This is yet another victim of style over substance and so many newly opened establishments have fallen victim to. If you enjoy eating food in the dark with poor customer service, don't care about food quality or just want to waste your hard earned cash, then this is the place for you just don't forget a headlamp or extra candles. However, if you value your money and believe a product and service should reflect this then honestly you'd be better...
