Service and ambience are great, and perhaps the non-vegan options have more balance in their flavours, but if you're looking for a good vegetarian/vegan báhn mì, look elsewhere.

The Roasted Cauliflower was under-seasoned and bland, too much shredded carrot compared to the amount of cucumber, too little chilli, yet despite all this the báhn mì was overly salty - drenched with an overwhelming - and unavoidable - soy sauce. A pervasive saltiness without any semblance of balance, overpowering any other notes within the báhn mì. Perhaps the Roasted Cauliflower was seasoned, but any such seasoning was at the least lost as a result.

The 'Scrambled' Tofu was either undercooked or uncooked, and also devoid of seasoning, with the consistency of a cold mush.

The mushroom paté, crunch of the bread and delicious in-house iced tea were the saving graces of an otherwise disappointing báhn mì. The price of the meal deal was decent, and so were the...

I popped in here when I was in town one weekend. I was drawn by the excellent reviews and the pics of the sandwiches looked very appealing. I went for opening. The guy working there was super helpful and friendly. He told me about the history of the shop and their Vietnamese street food inspired dishes. The shop is small with a takeaway focus but they do have some seating and they have a few cookery books to browse. The vibe is relaxed and a little funky. It was my first time having a Bánh Mì and I sure enjoyed it. I got a pork filling which had a lot of coriander and veg. The flavour was great and the bread was so crispy but soft centre. I also got a noodle bowl which had a bit of a kick but was nearly on par with the sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and clean. Nice addition to awesome Edinburgh’s food scene. I’ll definitely be back to try a new filling on their...

Popped in for a quick lunch having never tried a bánh mì before, and glad I did! I got the slow-cooked pork bánh mì which was so fresh and full of flavour. Was a nice portion for me on its own but the meal deal is also a good option. Very affordable, in my opinion, for the size and quality of the sandwich, and they also do 10% off student discount. Aside from the staple pork and chicken options they also usually have a special on, and two separate vegan options. The staff were very helpful and polite. The atmosphere in the place was great, cool music playing, the decor is unique and trendy, and was fairly busy mid-week when I went. A bonus is that it is also...

The style is very authentic. Wonderful bread choice and they don’t shy away from heat. Perfectly balanced with the carrots and daikon as well as the herbs. The proteins were all delicious but my favorites were the Char Siu, Korean fried chicken, and the Cauliflower. This place is fantastic and your messing up by not eating here. I try and grab at least one sandwich every time I’m nearby.
