I really wanted to like Butta Burger, as the menu looked promising with some creative burger and fry combinations. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience left a lot to be desired. The positives first - the food itself was actually quite good. The burgers were tasty, with high quality ingredients and flavorful toppings. The fries were also well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. So in terms of the actual food, Butta Burger delivers. However, the service and wait times completely overshadowed the quality of the food. It took an excruciatingly long time to even place our order, with the staff seeming disorganized and slow to acknowledge customers. And once we did order, we waited over 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Even when we did get our meals, the staff seemed rushed and not particularly attentive. Simple requests like refilling our drinks were neglected. It felt like the front-of-house staff were wholly unprepared to handle the volume of customers. For a burger joint, the wait times were simply unacceptable. I expect a more streamlined, efficient process, especially for the premium prices Butta Burger charges. The lack of service really took away from the enjoyment of the food. Overall, I'd give Butta Burger 2 stars. The food is good, but the excruciatingly long wait times and subpar service make it hard for me to recommend this place. I may try them again if I hear they've improved, but for now, the negatives outweigh the positives. There are too many other great burger options in the area that provide a much better all-around experience.

Was searching extensively for halal restaurants in Edinburgh for our visit and it wasn't that easy. Seems like the halal review world hasn't reached up here yet as I've not seen a source of decent restaurants that aren't TripAdvisor top ten list which consist of majority take aways. One thing I stumbled across was a article saying this restaurant served halal chicken (NOTE THE CHICKEN WINGS ARENT HALAL)so we took our chance. We went on a Monday at lunchtime which meant we didn't have to pre-book (something that has been quite annoying in Edinburgh) and the waitress confirmed the chicken was halal. We ordered Korean burger, the chicken tenders, paremesan rosemary fries. Wow. The chicken is high class on par with the famous halal gourmet places in london (possibly better). Whatever they marinate their chicken in (the buttermilk mix) works amazingly and if this was local I'd deffo go back all the time!! Husband loved the BBQ sauce that came with chicken tenders (we got the kids). The burgers were mega and filling, but Deffo will come back here *EDIT* After going back again we were informed by another staff member that the chicken wings aren't halal. A bit upsetting and a shame that the first time they didn't alert us that only the chicken breast was halal

I came here with a whole party of 5 after my friend recommended this place based of reviews. We came in with an hour or so until closing time. We all ordered Chicken Burgers accompanied with fries. The burgers were VERY salty, The batter was rather dark and seemed as they had been in the fryer too long. The chips were LATHERED in sauce and again way too salty. Nobody finished any of their burgers or the fries. I am very sad to say this was one of the worst burgers I have ever tried. After paying the bill I asked them if it was normal for the burger to be this colour and so salty and they responded with "We don't replace the oils/batter so towards the end of the night they may come out different than if you order earlier on in the day. " They also recommended to visit their other Edinburgh branch next time as that chef does something different with his batter" Take away from this experience is disappointment as I love going to restaurants but I guess I had too high expectations for this place. I wasn't planning to leave a bad review as this experience was over 2 weeks ago but I've just been reminded of this and the salt still haunts me.

It was mine and my partners, first time in Scotland this weekend, and as an avid burger lover, I went on TikTok to see what the best burger restaurant was in Edinburgh and Butta seemed to be the best! We were very much looking forward to our meal and have been very excited to visit! Our table was originally booked for 5:30 pm, however, we turned up 45 minutes early on the off chance to see if the table was free. Luckily, the restaurant was empty at this time so they could accommodate us. However, we were sat down in a really dark area tucked away in a corner, and my view from the table was the staffs bags and coats on the floor and at the back of chairs along with cardboard boxes, piled high. Because of the premium Pricing at the restaurant, I did feel a bit disappointed with where we were sat because the tables behind us all had lamp lighting, whereas we were sat near the food hatch which was really dark which lead to a poor atmosphere. The cocktails were just okay, but they were very affordable! I must admit the staff were very attentive and did ask us if we were okay, however I was really unhappy with where he had been seated. In terms of the food, it did taste great! However, for a burger and fries to cost over £20 I did find quite expensive. Speaking of the fries, I did find them fairly bland despite the truffle mayo and Parmesan topping. I think if the restaurant looked a bit smarter, I wouldn’t have minded paying a premium. All in all I do think the staff are great and the burgers taste amazing, but I do think the restaurant itself could be better and some more mainstream/well known music would’ve added to the ambience. I would recommend Butta if you’re a fan of burgers like myself, but the restaurant felt untidy due to the view I had...

Disappointed to have to write this review, but feel it provides a fair reflection of our exceptionally poor experience.

We had booked a table for Friday evening, however when we arrived the host had some difficulty in finding our booking and then finding an available table for us - despite the restaurant being at 50% occupancy, which it remained so throughout. Felt this was a poor first impression and negated the point of booking in advance.

Having been seated and placed our order - we sat for over 40 minutes waiting for our food, despite other parties who arrived after us being served before us. Eventually our waitress noticed that we had not yet received our order - and apologised that it had been lost meaning we had to reorder. I felt this was particularly poor, with the waitress only offering a cursory apology after what was a considerable wait. Once reordered the food did arrive promptly, although from being seated to receiving our order was in excess of 1 hour.

When the food did arrive, the quality was poor and not on par with previous experiences. The Kiev was missing the Parmesan and I felt the bacon on the Bacon Cheeseburger was minimal and overcooked.

Overall, our experience was exceptionally poor and we would be reluctant to return or recommend to friends. This is especially disappointing given the past positive experiences we have had with Butta Burger - and it is a restaurant with so much potential. However, it is clear from our most recent experience that quality has declined...
