Last time I ate at this restaurant it was Gusto. Now it has become Prezzo. How the world turns in a short spanā¦. Change. So disconcerting yet so constant. Whispered memories of a thing now lost.
Anyhow, the location is good - itās near my hotel! Seemed to be popular with American tourists; must be near their hotel too.
Not eaten at a Prezzo since 2019. They spent many years after that ācalling out my nameā on a daily basis by email, which I found off-putting. Theyāve stopped that now though and have also changed their name slightly (adding āItalianā), so time to give them another go.
The layout of this one is ok, but it does have that large central bench table thing, which is a bit odd. It was odd when it was in Gusto and, since itās still here, itās odd now. Is there much demand for communal dining in this type of restaurant? š¤
Anyhow, seated straight away and the place was quiet, so a good start. A Deerdog felt welcome.
The menu has changed a fair bit but still has good range. Big mozzarella sticks to start (just two, but enough), followed by a spicy pizza. The pizza here has a large crust but is otherwise decent. Eating this one, I didnāt find it that spicy - until I found all the chilli in the world on my last pieceā¦. Luck apparently š
No pudding this time, but they do tiramisu so there is that. There is a double tiramisu available if youāre feeling in the mood.
The beer is Peroni. I didnāt indulge this time as it was a Wednesday. But still, Peroni.
Overall worth a visit. What youād expect but done well and consistently. If I go back, Iāll try the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst class service from Adam and Nikki and food was delicious. The Tuscany Chicken was wonderful with large chunks of tasty chicken, spicy sausage and a lovely honey sauce. The Biscofi Cheesecake was so moreish and truly scrumptious. Adam and Nikki went over and beyond with their excellent service and first class interpersonal skills. They even helped us set up, log in and take us through the Prezzo App where many great offers are available to everyone who registers. Opening offer for the first 2 weeks of this restaurant opening of 50% discount is a no brainer. An offer that cant be pasta by. Get your self along to this great restaurant for a pizza great Italian food, atmosphere, service and of course a few glasses of vino.. Can't stay away. Revisited on 18 September. I went with the beef shin. Was melt in the mouth and absolutely delicious. Only downside side is that this gem of a restaurant in the centre of Edinburgh is not visited enough. I'd hate to see us lose Prezzo in Edinburgh again. Please give this excellent restaurant a visit and encourage your friends and family to have their taste buds tantalised with authentic Italian cuisine with top notch hosts and a wonderful and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had a disappointing experience during our recent visit. We were initially taken to a table but quietly moved ourselves to the one right next to it for a bit more privacy. Shortly after, a staff member (Marius) came over and abruptly confronted us with, āWhatās wrong with the table?ā before telling us it was āunacceptableā as they were fully booked. This claim was untrue, as several tables remained free throughout our visit, including the one we moved to, which stayed empty the entire time.
We apologised and explained our preference for a quieter spot, but the unnecessarily rude and confrontational manner left a bad impression. To make matters worse, he later returned to give us another unnecessary ātell-offā about the table change. The staff clearly needs training on hospitality.
Service was also slow ā we waited around 40 minutes for our main courses. The food was standard chain-restaurant quality, nothing worth praising. Overall, between the rude handling of a simple table change and the sluggish service, itās not somewhere weād choose...
