Corstorphine Inn — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Sorry but this place is an absolute joke. Ordered our starters but things went rapidly downhill when it came to ordering our mains. Waitress said they had no chicken breast at all. My son changed his order from sliced chicken breast to fish fingers. Waitress said they had no pasta. My daughter changed her order from tomato pasta to fish fingers. Waitress said the missing chicken breast off my mixed grill would be replaced with extra gammon. Waitress then said they couldn't do that and would put extra peas on. My meal came with no peas at all and was also missing my garlic and mushroom sauce that I had ordered. Waitress said they had no chicken tikka masalla. My wife changed her order to katsu chicken. Her meal arrived and it was a breaded chicken breast with a strange side sauce in a pot. The chicken was cold in middle. Kids wanted some tomato ketchup with their meals. Waitress came back and said they didn't have any and gave them tomato salsa instead. Felt sorry for the waitress as she said she didn't normally work there. We came to pay and they didn't accept card, only cash. The waitress and man (who was wearing a t shirt with" just wing it" on) were fully aware it was a shambles, didn't offer any discount so if they weren't bothered then neither could we be at that point so just paid and left. Maybe they were experiencing a few problems in one way or another when we went but other than them not having any chicken breast no other problems were communicated to us. Booked in over the phone with half an hours notice. Arrived at 15.30, friendly staff and good service. Ordered food at the bar to be told no longer serving Sunday roast and the other 2 dishes we ordered were not on the menu so all 4 of us had to change our order. When the food came, the nachos and burger (for the kids) looked good but the steak pies (for me and my husband) were cold, the chips were red hot, the gravy was congeled and the veg was hard, the meat in the pie was cubed and looked processed, no taste and gristley and fatty. It was the worst meal I'd ever had and I left most of it ( i was starving so tried some). I felt bad for the staff as they were really friendly and apologetic that they were out of a lot of the menu. Such a shame as I had heard good things from friends about the food so I am assuming it has recently...

Had a lovely Sunday lunch / tea food was great drinks took a while to come when ordered through the app but it was busy.

The one let down was table 28, the pub was so busy we had to take table 27, all the time we were in the pub probably 3 hours plus they took all chairs from tables 26, 25, 24 and 1 from ours they then vaped continually, it started discreetly with one woman but by the time we moved tables to get away from it, it was most of the table, apart from the younger children, yes some of the teenagers were vaping. They got that loud that although watching man united Fulham game we had to move as they were unbearable. I thought it was illegal to smoke or vape on licenced premises but the staff walked past ignoring them maybe the licence holders or premises supervisor needs to be refreshed as to the law in...
