I disagree with another reviewer that says this pub is very expensive , the prices are in line with most Edinburgh pubs , many of which don't have the same standard and quality on offer as they do at Leslies. It's dog friendly too , and the staff are helpful and unlike many places have an interest and a care for what their selling. The landlord and his staff seems to care about his punters and he is always on the ball , unlike some places where the staff are made up of here today gone tomorrow bored globe trotters. the place is clean and still has a working class heart beat to it , but its not gone downhill unlike many of its near by competitors where the atmosphere can be a bit mass market and dicey at times. Lots of regular punters who are friendly and civil so it has a real rooted feel to it. The only gripe I have and my reason for a one less then a full five is that they put in a TV and killed the uniqueness of this place by doing so as it used to be nice to escape into here and feel you'd stepped back in time in a positive way. I hope they get rid of the telly as there are two pubs up the road that already cater for that...
Read morePretty much my local, has possibly one of the cheapest pints (and a good one at that!) in Edinburgh with their own ale at £3.60 a pint. It's dog friendly and has a great old feel with separated sections of the bar and multiple areas for service and drink delivery. Bar staff have always been polite and friendly, the place is clean and comfortable. They don't turn up the music too loud, don't have the TV on sports etc so you can relax and chat properly. My only little gripes:
it can get pretty busy on a Friday PM, and some other (somewhat boistrous) customers took over my little table without asking if it was okay. But that's not really the pub's fault. the toilets could use a bit of a spruce up, I like in a way that they are a bit old fashioned but they also aren't that nice I'd like some food options, even just some sandwiches, but I get that it's not really a priority and is...
Read moreThis place is so beautiful, I could spend years just taking photos of it. It combines the atmosphere of a modern pub and the fashionable decor reminiscent of a dapper English gentleman. The menu is rather small and is greatly reduced at lunch time but everything on the menu is spectacular, especially the authentic "Haggis, Neeps, and Tatties". The main attraction of the establishment is the huge selection of alcohol ranging from cask ales to local gin. This is a great place to go for a drink no matter what you are interested in and even if you don't have anything in mind the bartender is always happy to help.
Overall, this is a wonderful place for lunch and dinner. No matter what you order you cannot go wrong with your selection of either your meal, or beverage.
A well...
