When we heard Jian who used to run Chop Chop on Morrison Street was the chef here, we had to try it and the Chinese food was indeed AMAZING. Excellent dumplings, as always, but the chilli prawns and the aubergine with garlic were amongst the best dishes of their kind I've ever had. To be honest, although the owners of the pub have done a really nice job with it, I probably wouldn't normally give a place advertising big screen sports on a busy junction a second look but we came because of Jian and were pleasantly surprised. Read moreI have never been spoken to by such a rude and aggressive bar manager as l was yesterday at Luckies. We had booked a table to watch the rugby and to enjoy some food while we were there. However a mix up between the landlady and bar manager caused confusion with our table booking despite the landlady coming over and checking we were at the right table and everything was okay. What then went on to happen was a total disgrace and incredibly mishandled by the bar manager who approached us in an aggressive manner and told us to leave the table she was encouraged by a older gentleman who wanted the table for himself and was also most aggressive and fouled mouthed. Read moreNot been in it for about 2 years back then it was rubbish, BUT went for pub lunch with a friend and ohhh my god the food is really good compliments to the chef. I believe a lady owns it now and well shes certainly has turned it around great staff too. I wonder if they will find the old staircase and open up the room(s) upstairs to see the history of the place and give it more business.
