Saughton skatepark, twenty five years in the making and ten in place.. Saughton , a council built park took nearly three decades to succeed in finding permission to build, to source contractors and a suitable venue. Saughton has a concrete mini bowl , large concrete master bowl with metal coping which stretches out into a clover type bowl. A large reservoir embankment with hips and rollovers and a huge flat bottom. A group of banks which skate nicely at the far end, a small collaboration of differently shaped transitions with equally different indecies. Equally good for skaters, bmxers and scooters though built primarily as a skatepark. Read moreBy far the best/only outdoor skate park in the area with a playground right next to it. Some well designed sections that naturally separate newbies, intermediates and pros make this a safe environment for the young and young at heart.
I've found the crowd using the park are friendly and happy to talk and swap tips and tricks with me and my wee one.
The only downside has been the slippery surface as autumn/winter has come in. Someone is sweeping it clean but it's still a bit of an ice rink when it's wet, especially in the early mornings.
Note: Parking can be difficult on Saturday/Sunday mornings as there are junior football leagues also...
