I visited this branch of Luxford Burgers in it's first week of opening. It's a soft launch, they're not marketing the location yet but I work locally so I knew it was open. It's been working as a "Deliveroo kitchen" for weeks and that practice as paid off as the kitchen is quick and delicious.
I went (stop the theme) for a fried chicken burger with bacon bits and a side of dirty fries with bacon bits. I was impressed with the size of the burger!
I'm not easily impressed with the size of burgers. "Is that all?" is my usual response and that's why I ordered the fries. I still needed both but couldn't fit the whole burger in my mouth.
Size and taste aligned. The chicken burger was big in flavour too.
To cut a long story short; I asked if they had a loyalty program (not yet). I'll be back (like Arnie) and when they get their booze licence I look forward to trying their alcohol shakes.
It's also good news for celiacs as Luxford Burgers do gluten free buns on request. I imagine they can't offer a gluten free prep area and I didn't ask.
The venue wasn't busy when I went, but my note about the semi secret opening is relevant here. I think, with the right staff numbers, they could seat 50 or so people. I imagine it'll be busy for Canonmils and Stockbridge department Christmas lunches.
Toilets are down stairs and I'd be cautious about trying them with a...
Read moreI had been so excited for this place to open up on my doorstep but was unfortunately super disappointed.
We initially went to sit in on opening weekend but ended up just getting a takeaway to avoid being the only people in there. Would have thought they could have drummed up a bit of publicity or promotion for their opening above and beyond a single Instagram post. We ended up getting takeaway which came to over £40 with only soft drink. The burger itself was bloody delicious, no two ways about it! However the sides were beyond disappointing. Who doesn’t love a big juicy onion ring battered fresh out the frier? That’s what I hoped we would get for £6.90 a portion. These were clearly from a bag of frozen small, depressing onion rings you’d find in Iceland. The chips were also incredibly basic and I’d be willing to be they were from a bag bought in and not prepped there. Just think that when charging a premium for sides that they should be premium.

Read moreIt’s unfortunate to say that I’m actually disappointed in this place. I’ve ordered from here loads on Deliveroo and love the burgers, I was really excited for the place to open just down the road and expected to be going in very regularly. Unfortunately after going in tonight I found it pretty disappointing, it looks like they’ve really rushed to get the place open and feels very sparse. Also no availability to order alcohol as they are still waiting on the license (not their fault I guess but having been open for a while doing Deliveroo only I thought this would have been in place) hopefully for them this will come through soon.
The food was decent as always but I had the Parasite burger but I found the korean gochujang sauce tasted just like tomato sauce.
The service was okay but there wasn’t much interaction to be had.
I think for near £40 for 2 burgers and a portion of loaded fries I would rather be in somewhere that felt like a good burger place rather...
