I recently dined at Made in Italy restaurant in Edinburgh, and I must say it was a disappointing experience. The tasteless food, lack of wifi, limited pasta options, dirty cutlery, and the fact that they substituted my desired pasta with fettuccine without proper explanation were all letdowns. The worst part was the food - not only it was completely tasteless but also served cold, and I even had to request replacement forks due to their uncleanliness. On the positive side, the ambience was nice because it's in a touristic area. Waitresses were notably attractive, but that does not make up for the restaurant's subpar quality of food, and the cheesy and unpleasant pasta Al forno. Additionally, the overall cost for two people was quite high at 37 Pounds for just pasta. I regretfully rate my experience at Made in Italy with a 1/5. Without exaggeration, this could be the worst Italian food I ever had in my life

This place was packed on a Friday night, but it was rather frustrating for our 2 person table to be ignored. People who came long after us got their food first. It took over an hour to get our appetizer salads, and about 40 more minutes to get our two 10-inch pizzas. The big upside: all of the food was absolutely incredible. My starter salad consisted of only rocket greens, generous shavings of parmigiana reggiano, and luscious balsamic vinegar, and it was fantastic. I had the four cheese pizza, and the cheese was fresh and bountiful, the dough perfection. My husband was likewise impressed by the food. That said, I wouldn’t go there again based on their service.

Popped in during a boozy day out in Edinburgh without a booking, got an inside table at 8 o clock no probs, though it was busy, with all other tables occupied & a few folk sitting outside, all 4 of us had pizzas, they do some other dishes but tbh, I’d recommend folk just have their pizzas, as they were really excellent, though a bit pricey imo, they were worth it, very tasty, with a choice of 10”, 12”, or 16”, I had the Nduja, best i can recall ever having anywhere, & I’ll defo go back sometime & I’ll be trying out their meat feast pizza, which sounded great as well, defo recommend trying it if you like pizzas, tbh, I could happily eat another one right now 😋

LONG READ! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

I've had the worst dining experience of my life tonight. We entered the restaurant around 9:30 pm and were told at the door that we had 10 mins to order. We were tired after a long touristy day so we said no problem and ordered our meal within 5 mins. The food probably took 15 mins, there were 4 other tables there at the time.

We started eating and halfway through a server shows up with the bill, this would be considered rude but we thought they probably need to close the register. She's brought the machine to the table in another 2 mins, we paused from our meal and paid up (including the 10% 'service charge') all ok even up until this point.

Less than 5 mins in, we have food in our mouth, very little left on our plates another server (a young lady behind the counter) just leans over and tells us guys it's 10 past 10 and we'd have to close up in 10 mins. This is when we see the other two servers cleaning tables around us. We are already trying to finish our meal. My friend and I were very upset at this point, we left the remaining food on our plates and got up immediately and told the servers that they should have told us when being seated that they would rush us while eating as well and that they were very rude and this has been a terrible experience for us. I went to ask the lady behind the counter what her name was so I could write a review, she said she wouldn't give me her name and if I didn't leave she would call the police. At this point I'm just fuming. What restaurant asks you to leave midway through your meal and then threatens to call the cops on you??

I sat down and asked her to go ahead and call the police because I do not understand what warrants the cops to be called, but sure.... The chef apologised on her behalf and politely asked me to let it go so I did. I couldn't stop myself from writing this review because I don't know if it's their training or lack of empathy for people who are eating or my skin colour? No one deserves this treatment.

I have never in my life treated service staff badly. I've always been extra polite and understanding because i know how hard it is to be on your feet all day...

Visited Friday evening for a few drinks, had a nice time so decided to return late Sunday afternoon for food and drinks. We decided to sit outside as it was a nice evening, we chose our table and a waitress gave us the food and drinks menu and we were literally just left. After 20 minutes my husband had to go inside the restaurant and ask if we could order. A waitress came and took our order, the drinks came out quickly, shortly afterwards our food followed. My husband ordered a Panini, on the side of the Panini there was a sticker of some sort stuck on it, which my husband made a waitress aware of, she took it away and brought it back with the sticker removed. He said the chicken was so dry, like it had been reheated for way too long. I had a pizza which was average at best. After we had finished eating, we were totally ignored again, my husband tried calling a waitress over 5 times and was ignored each time, which is crazy!!!! We were sat there for around 30 minutes with empty plates and glasses. I ended up going into the restaurant and asked if we could have some service, the guy I spoke with was very nice, I explained what had happened and he was apologetic. I ended up paying the bill and we left. The service was absolutely diabolical, never experienced that in a restaurant before. Also I suggest that some of your waitresses have more training and actually smile to customers and not be...

Awful experience, went in for fresh pasta but only dish served 'fresh' was a special, their lobster ravioli it was tasteless. We asked if there was actually any lobster in it and it was immediately taken away with us being told sorry it was in fact lobster paste. The sauce had been like watered down butter. My partner was invited to order something else and chose spaghetti bolognaise. It was also watery and she had to add so much salt and pepper for any flavour. I asked the manager and he said they try not to season too much and seemed not to care. He did try to offer coffee but the rude attitude was disgusting and I felt ripped off. My pasta tasted like it came from a packet not fresh and the muscles were the worst I ever saw. Apparently I was rude to raise concerns or request a discount despite being told I should be happy 'he removed the lobster'. This was a joke as that dish was taken away anyway. Fabio the delightful manager then threatened to call the police. I told him this was absurd and that I knew my rights, In the end he gave us a discount instead. Unfortunately, I cannot give this less than one star, however please save yourselves and do not go for dinner. Beware fake advertising and staff who are only nice until you begin to express any...
