A lively and vibrant Mexican Restaurant on the spectacular Victoria Street, curving up from the Grassmarket to the George IV Bridge. Perfectly located for a bite to eat, in amongst all the watering holes.
We had booked this for a large group of friends, joining me to celebrate/commiserate one of those pesky "Significant Milestone" Birthdays. The booking was well managed, with a signle long table made available centrally in the Restaurant.
The service was friendly, efficient and attentive, and overall managed relatively well the complications of large/complex orders of food & drinks, as well as the staggered arrivals.
The ambience itself was traditional Mexican and colourful, and very pleasing. The food was everything one would expect, with a great variety, decent sized portions, tasty, authentic, and prices as one would expect for Edinburgh City. Unfortunately we never sampled the Margaritas (!), but the other drinks on offer were a good selection including Mexican beers.
In summary, a destination for an amazing night out with delicious Mexican food and a great vibe, especially when enjoyed in the company of one's loved...
Read moreMoving from Chicago and living in Inverness for 2 years I have missed Mexican food. This place filled a piece of my food heart that has been missing.
For being in Scotland this Mexican food was DE-lightful! I would go back in a heart beat.
Food/Drink Nachos with Chicken - amazing. They layered the nachos so every bite had cheese, salsa, etc.
Fajitas - Steak - I couldn't stop eating them. The steak was a great flavour and the sautéed peppers and onions added great taste.
Refried Beans - Chunkier than I am use to, but had a great taste.
Mexican Rice - Went well with the refried beans. Good taste.
Margarita - Great taste for a 'rita. Not too anything. Nice and smooth.
Atmosphere Great feeling inside. Colourful, good lighting, cosy, but not sitting on top of each other.
Service When we were first got there it was great. They must have been on a shift change for the evening towards the end as we got neglected a wee bit and it was hard to anyone's attention to get a last margarita.
Overall Yes to it...
Read moreOur night we were so looking forward to was completely ruined by the food. On photos everything looked so delicious so we were even more disappointed. I ordered a taco with pork without habanero, and even this way the whole thing was so so spicy… impossible to enjoy a bite! Not to mention the enchilada with chicken. I could not even feel, taste or enjoy the meat because my mouth was so burning. Zero cheese taste. We do like a mild spice on a food! But here I could drink a litre of sour cream, I was so craving some neutral and fresh taste to wash down the burning sensation in my throat. My partner’s poor stomach after this experience… What it would take to mention on the menu that all the food is on the way spicier side?! Add some instructions, not everyone likes the strong spices! We love Mexican food, but Mexican doesn’t necessarily have to mean everything is overly spicy… And it was also really pricey! We left hungry, what a waste of money… Don’t go here if you don’t like mid...
