I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic Thai restaurant, and I can't wait to share my experience with you. From start to finish, it was a delightful culinary journey.
Firstly, the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The ambiance was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal. The interior was tastefully decorated with Thai-inspired elements, immersing me in the culture and enhancing the overall dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the food. The sizzling beef I ordered was absolutely excellent. It was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. The sizzling sound and aroma that filled the air only added to the anticipation and enjoyment of the dish. Each bite was a burst of savory goodness, leaving me wanting more.
To complement my meal, I opted for a glass of Riesling wine. It was a perfect choice. The wine was crisp, refreshing, and paired beautifully with the flavors of the Thai cuisine. It elevated the entire dining experience and added a touch of sophistication to my meal.
One aspect that stood out was the friendly and attentive staff. They were welcoming from the moment I stepped through the door and provided exceptional service throughout my visit. They were knowledgeable about the menu, offered recommendations, and ensured that all my needs were met. Their genuine hospitality truly enhanced my dining experience.
In summary, this Thai restaurant surpassed my expectations in every aspect. The great atmosphere, excellent sizzling beef, and the pairing of a delightful Riesling wine made for a memorable meal. The friendly and attentive staff added the final touch, making me feel valued as a customer. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a fantastic Thai...
Read moreUnfortunately, I had a very unfortunate customer experience at this restaurant. I NEVER write reviews about restaurants, but am compelled as it was so bad. I'm traveling solo on a multi city U.K. holiday from the states. I had heard good things about this restaurant, and was eager that I got a reservation the day of (it was a Saturday). Long story short, I was dining alone, and literally mid meal was told I had to move tables because the "reservation for that table" had now arrived (late by the way). And it wasn't a matter of number of seats at the table. I was sitting at a table for 2, I was asked to move for 2 people, and they moved me to a four top table right by the bar, cash register/service area. It was not only embarrassing & humiliating as they gave me about 10 seconds to grab my coat, belongings, etc, everyone in the very small restaurant stopped talking at just stared. Even after I politely said "this is very embarrassing, and frankly very rude as I am mid meal, you have shoved me in the corner by the cash register and bar," they didn't care! They just kept saying "sorry", and my experience there was ruined at that point. They offered no other "next best solution" which would normally be a backup for an uncomfortable customer experience. I left, (food and all). I have worked in the service industry and every person/restaurant can have an "off night", however, this was just down right rude. They were not sorry, and left very disappointed. Go somewhere else - dining in Edinburgh in general is such a welcoming/kind town. This is truly a one off...
Read moreNok's Kitchen is some if the best Thai food I have had anywhere. It is a cozy place off the beaten path, with a welcoming interior. It is not a typical [cheesy] Asian restaurant as it is well decorated, white tablecloths and not that large, which was s nice if you want to have a conversation with your table mates. It is a bit pricey, but the food makes up for it.
The food is fabulous, all being homemade on location. It is artistically plated and bursting with flavor. I started with the Nok Chom Suam ( bird in the garden, which are 3 filled, steamed dumplings shapes as a basket and a bird. The waiter was upfront and warned me they were out of the "bird" dumplings but would sub it for another basket; same ingredients, different shape. I ordered anyway and was happy I did... It was delicious. My wife had the Yum Ped (Duck Salad) which was mostly duck. Reminded me of crispy fried fried duck, without the pkum sauce... I love duck and snuck a piece off her plate and it was excellent as well
For the main course, I had the Ped Ha Sean (stir fried roasted duck) and it had a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The plating was amazing as well. We finished it off with a friend banana with ice cream. Once again, delicious, although it put me over the top and left feeling stuffed. Portions were not that big, but we're very filling.
I would highly recommend the dishes we had, but don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. I will make it a point to return to Nok's my next trip...
