Went for a dinner after reading all the reviews about this restaurant. Expectations were really high but disappointed rather profoundly. Most of the reviewers mentioned about the friendliness of the staff and that it was. However, it seemed that only one person working as waiter was not sufficient during a busy dinner time. Quality of the food was not bad but very weak ventilation of the place is really a problem; after returning home I had to wash my cloths. While you may like spicy Indian food, you definitely don't like when your cloths are smelling with Indian spices and oil. After the dinner when asked for the bill the owner (possibly) of the place an Indian (possibly) lady just told me that it is 29 pounds without giving me any receipt. When asked for the receipt she wrote on a piece of paper the items and their prices without mentioning the VAT or any other possible taxes. I felt really bad, it is unfair not only towards the Scottish tax authorities, but also towards other honest competitors. Fair business by abiding the existing tax laws is an imperative not only for big businesses but also for small businesses like this Indian restaurant called Notun's. So, one needs to be careful to recommend this restaurant, because by recommending this restaurant one is also helping the...
Read moreThe server/ lady owner could be challenging and overwhelming. What’s been mostly upsetting is pointing out at me in front of other people why I look bad. When I mentioned I have ADHD and social anxiety she become quite for a little while. When everyone left she started talking while bringing food to me and couldn’t control her temper and complained that I blame her. When asked what am I blaming her for reportedly, she couldn’t answer. In less than a min she took the food and despite waiting for a quite a long time she maliciously refused to let me pay and eat the food. I travelled long, it was 10pm and was really hungry. Yet i was punished. I feel sorry for her, it was a primitive and inappropriate behaviour from her side. being mean regarding my health/ illness, malicious and purposefully then not serving the already prepared food is really not the love and peace answer. She seem to have a lot of quotes about it in her little restaurant but not applying it at all. I get that older generation doesn’t accept some illnesses but there has to be a gentler and calmer way at least of dealing with it. I’ve left almost crying, restless inside and...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped a close by shop in the area and we were looking for some food on the way back to our hotel and we found Nuntan's Indian Bistro and were very thankful we stopped there because for one, the food was great with a great price and two, the owner Nutan was very kind and a pleasure to talk!
Our reccomendation is to get the meal combo for 15 euro as it has a wide variety of food that comes with it like Naan and two different curries. The mango lassi's were great as well and freshly made!
Nuntan made us feel welcome to Edinburgh and gave us a few reccomendations on where to visit and what to do. She is also very kind and personable as she asked us about where we're from and how our day was going. I'm from Alabama where people are very friendly and Nuntan made us feel like a part of her family.
Thank you Nuntan for the great food and great conversations. I hope to see you again on...
