I'm reading these comments and reviews and I'm not sure we went to the same restaurant? This place was awful. Allow me to share my experience.

On the night we got the bus into town and walked to the restaurant, when we got there the front area of the restaurant was quite busy. I said we had a booking and the man didn't even ask my name but led us through the restaurant through to the back area which was vast but empty. The only other people in the back area were also just sitting down - it was really cold and very run down. The other couple looked at us and made a comment about it being too cold and dingy and then got up and left.

I said to the waiter that we had a Groupon voucher and he immediately said 'we don't do Groupon anymore', we've told them we don't do it and we've asked them to take everything down. I'm sorry we can't do it. I showed him my voucher and as it was the 9 course tasting menu. He said he'd take it to the kitchen and see what the chef could do.

In the meantime I needed to go to the toilet however when I walked into the recess where the ladies were there was a big sign saying 'out of order'. The floor in this area was really uneven and had come up at parts, it was very run down and I almost tripped. The smell of sewage was also incredibly bad. I walked up to the serving area and asked if they had other toilets where I was shown to the men's. It also smelled awful and I had to walk past a man at the urinals which was really embarrassing for both of us.

When I got back to our table Rob was saying how awful the smell of sewage was and that it was really cold. The waiter returned to the table and advised that the chef was going to just bring us out some starters and we could choose a main. I advised that Rob is vegetarian but eats fish and he categorically said they didn't do fish (despite there being prawns, calamari and mussels on their menu). I got the feeling they wanted to give us as little aspkossible as they were losing money to Groupon. He said all they would do would be some meat starters. I again said Rob doesn't eat meat but again he said that's all they will do.

Looking at the menu the starters were all around £3.95 so even 6 of those with 2 main courses and an ice cream wouldn't even have come to anywhere the price of the Groupon voucher never mind the elevated price they were claiming it was worth.

A tasting menu is also not a few starters chucked at us with a main course. The service was awful, they still didn't even take our name, didn't make us feel the least bit welcome and the restaurant decor and atmosphere was absolutely awful. We advised that we'd take the voucher back and complain to Groupon as it was a terrible experience.

Please do not waste your time here. I can't believe how bad this...

Visited Saturday night with a table booked. Upon arrival we waited at the door for a few minutes waiting to be seated. Eventually, after been seen by a waiter and ignored, we approached the bar and informed them we had a booking. They seemed surprised and no table was ready; after one was cleaned we took our seat. I immediately asked for water but none was brought. This wasn’t a great start but was willing to look past it.

Our order was taken about 10 minutes after being seated. It was slightly concerning that 10 minutes later a different waiter approached us and asked what we wanted a second time. It took 25 minutes for poppadoms to arrive, and over an hour after ordering the main finally arrived.

During our wait some tables next to us which paid their bill and left were then left uncleaned for over half an hour, with one waiter walking past multiple times and not even collecting plates/glasses. During our hungry wait it dampened the atmosphere somewhat being surrounded by unclean tables.

When finally the main arrived the food was good but took far too long to arrive, especially considering that it seemed the restaurant was at 60% capacity, with 3 waiters available for about 10 tables i.e. more than enough.

To sum up the food was decent but the service left a lot to be desired. ...

I went to this restaurant hoping that it would have warm Indian hospitality but far from it! I ordered momos and a veggie, was charged a good amount for it and was not given a bill. Having traveled for 24 hours, hungry and tired, I received stale and overcooked food. I had to throw it away, it was that bad. I went back today to tell the gentleman who served me regarding the food, he said I will let the chef know. The chef was his very sweet mother whom I feel very bad for as I write this but this is mainly regarding the food and service, nothing personal. This man couldn't even muster a genuine apology, had the audacity to tell me to leave, all while his family were standing there, it became a show of sorts. He didn't let me talk, kept butting in and didn't let me finish my sentences even. He refused to agree that the food was bad, demanded proof. I had walked in to the restaurant in good faith to give feedback regarding the food and this was the hospitality I received. As a customer, I am deeply disappointed. I was not looking for a refund, only an apology. The customer should be treated with respect and dignity, not like someone who is dispensable after the money has been pocketed. My advice, don't bother...

THE BEST CURRY WE HAVE EVER HAD! DELICIOUS!!! My husband and I just ate here for a late lunch, we ate everything off of our plates. We had butter chicken, aloo gobi, and garlic naan, all cooked to perfection and bursting with flavors. We are so thrilled my client from the US who is originally from Scotland recommended this place to us. It is by far the best curry we have ever had in our lives, and that is saying a lot because we’ve been to numerous Indian curry restaurants around the world, as world travelers. The owner is also very attentive, personable, kind, and friendly. He is from Nepal and you can tell he is proud of his country, as you can see a picture of the huge painting on his restaurant wall! We will be visiting nepal next year! His employees were also very friendly and I got to meet the chef! Thank you thank you thank you Everest! We will be back at least one more time before we leave in 5 more days!

The food from here is absolutely amazing! So fresh, tasty & generous portions. I mean, look at the size of their Tandoori king prawns for a start! I thought the Agraah was good from where I'm from but this puts their king prawns to shame! There were so many ums, ars & nom noms my other half asked me if he should leave the room! Haha! Seriously though, it was the best Indian meal I've EVER had! No complaints whatsoever. The cheese & garlic Nans were oozing with filling. A lovely surprise since other restaurants leave you wondering if they've forgotten to put them on. I'm actually counting down the days when we'll be in Edinburgh next. In the mean time, please, please, open a restaurant in Yorkshire. Preferably Doncaster where I live & I swear you'll do very very well. 10/10

I have tried Peshwari Naan in four different Indian restaurants in Edinburgh, but this is the only one that contains so much salt and it’s so salty…I would minus 1 star for this but I forgive because their curry dishes are so great. Also, very good delivery packaging! Clean and clear and safe. Prawn has only 7 small shrimps which I guess may not be king prawns (much smaller than Mother India’s Cafe in Edinburgh); the curry sauce itself is delicious, but not worth it for the price. Similar thing goes to their lamb curry: this is the smallest lamb chunks that I have ever seen in an Indian dish amongst 5 Indian restaurants that I have ordered food from in Edinburgh. Again, taste is good but totally not worth the price. I won’t order again.
