The Stockbridge Tap — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

It's pub, with a major problem... Firstly, lets do the positives: it has an interesting and varied beers / ales selection at reasonable prices for Stockbridge and it lets dogs in .... That's the end of the positives... Unfortunately the negatives: it's also got some Andrew-Tate-Energy bar staff, all bristling 'roid rage and self hatred, which they happily offload onto whoever they can. I've heard some of these guys regularly be rude, aggressively condescending, and even shout at people - including an elderly customer who was, basically, just confused about an unusual beer name... a simple mistake for which he was verbally battered with some Tate-style Big-D energy... So, if you like Mr Tait and his punch-bag based philosophy, perhaps you'll love it and become a regular. If you and your friends prefer your night out without toxic nonsense from bar bullies, there are better options just 5...

Stopped off here many times on the way home in recent years but tonight was probably the last time. 10.30 pm and we walked in to chairs being being stacked on tables and a very brusque, ' we're closing soon, this area is closed '. We found an'open' table and got drinks but the whole atmosphere was very off with the female manager(?) walking round the bar loudly saying 'we're closed now' and continuing to stack chairs on tables as soon as they became vacant. Very unusual for a bar that used to be open until 1 am and was busy and buzzing with locals. Sadly no more. We will not...

It was deligthful to visit this pub after having seen Old Town and the Royal Mile, where basically all the pubs are way too crowded with tourists. The area of Stockbridge is quite the opposite to that with a relaxed atmosphere. And so was this pub. A nice selection of draught beers and very good food helped also. Here was maybe the only problem. For some reason, the waiting time to be served food was surprisingly way too long. From ordering it took something like 45+ minutes. But even so, I can really recommend this place and the Stockbridge...
