During my visit to Edinburgh from Australia for a conference in October 2025, I had the pleasure of dining at TapTrap Authentic Indian Restaurant every evening, and it quickly became a highlight of my trip. From the moment I stepped in, I was fascinated by the warm and inviting ambiance. The interior strikes a perfect balance between traditional Indian aesthetics and modern comfort, creating a cosy yet vibrant atmosphere ideal for relaxing after a long day. The food was consistently excellent. Each dish was rich in flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly crafted with care and authenticity. Whether you are a fan of classic Indian curries or more adventurous regional specialities, TapTrap delivers a gastronomic experience that satisfies and pleasures. What truly set TapTrap apart was the hospitality. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about ensuring I had a memorable experience. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they made me feel welcome throughout my stay. If you are in Edinburgh and craving authentic Indian cuisine in a charming setting, I wholeheartedly recommend TapTrap. It is a place where great food and warm service come together to create...

🚨 Public Warning 🚨 I have dined at countless restaurants, but this one ranks as the worst of them all. The real disappointment is not just the food — it’s the owner himself. His clear disdain towards Indians is both shocking and disgraceful. From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere reeked of discrimination.

If you value your self-respect and your hard-earned money, stay far away from this place. The prices are outrageously high, the food portions are laughably small, and the overall experience is nothing short of insulting.

As an Indian, I never imagined feeling such hostility from another Indian. Unfortunately, meeting Prajwal — with his rude and unprofessional attitude — confirmed that this place deserves no support.

My advice: Avoid this restaurant at all costs. There are far better places to spend your money and be treated with basic respect.

I didn’t just talk about your share, I also talked about your behaviour. And as for the one curry, I can upload the bill — whether...

Three of us went for lunch on Saturday and the place was nearly empty. One person on duty and doing their best. We were shown to a table and given menus. We asked for the drinks menu as well as we'd never been before. We ordered Bon Accord sodas as they are local only to be told they didn't have any. We settled for mango lassi. After much deliberation we chose a shared platter for 2, meat, Tawa fish, yoghurt bombs, shrimp fritters. The dishes arrive when they are ready so the platter arrived last. The individual dishes are small, you are meant to order a few. They were very good, dips were well suited to the main food, everything was light and tasty. The platter had overdone lamb chops, a bit charred, but all the chicken was great. We decided that we wanted a little more to eat, so added another chicken tikka and kalmi kebab. These were quickly polished off. It was now getting busier and more staff were on duty. We got the bill quickly and paid....

Popped in here purely by chance after Xmas shopping. To be honest I was only after a beer and a snack but ended up having masala chips, lamb chops and then butter chicken and garlic naan. Chips were great. Lamb chops were delicious, so soft with a lovely rub that had a wee kick without smothering the lamb . The butter chicken was superb. Lovely flavour of cashew running through it as well . The garlic naan was delicious but I'd have more garlic but that's a personal choice and I appreciate that not everyone has my garlic tolerance 😅 I loved the food. All served up by friendly staff. Genuinely one of those great unexpected finds. I will definitely be back. A great addition to the West End. A pub with beer and proper curry.. What's not to like.
