I was excited to have a new burrito to place to try close to home. But unfortunately it’s is a disappointment. From the perspective of someone who works in a professional kitchen and has worked in Tex Mex before. The veggie burrito for £7.99 was advertised as containing guac 🥑 (I asked for mine to be made vegan and I see no reason why it was left out?) The burrito wasn’t tightly wrapped and resulted in it falling apart. Black eyed peas instead of pinto or black was also strange (but interesting) and the peppers 🫑 also didn’t have any sign of being sautéed or seasoned. No flavour profiles of the core Mexican flavours like garlic (garlic powder is such a cheap and simple flavour bomb that could elevate your beans), coriander powder, lime (salt) or any semblance of heat (I had no jalapeños either or offer of hot sauce ) or acid (I had no salsa or tomatoes in it) or smokiness. Please I mean this in the most constructive way possible! You guys have an amazing location! A little more effort with seasoning could elevate your place to the next level for not that much more cost or effort. The fact that the burrito was vegan should have no impact on the flavour. I have made and have had many amazing vegan burritos in my life. I hope for your growth in flavour profile if I ever decide to give you guys another try in the future. The staff who served me were lovely I will say.
I was asked no questions about what I wanted in it. But thank you for...
Read moreGuy working there is very pleasant and friendly. Was welcoming and polite. However that's as good as it got. He said "We serve the best burritos is Edinburgh", which turned out to be absolute nonsense, I wouldn't describe what I got as a burrito. It was more so a burnt panini. The wrap that the food was wrapped in was put into a sandwich maker until it was literally burnt, my wife's one was the same. The food itself was mediocre and that's being generous. The decor and overall presentation of the place could do with some attention but I understand the man is trying to run a business and may not have the capital to renovate the business. But fold out plastic chairs and table was fairly poor in my opinion. I won't ever return to this establishment but I wish them all the best with it. I actually had a burrito in a burrito bar in the airport when flying home which was tenfolds better than what I was served in Turbo Burrito. So for the moment that is actually the best burritos in Edinburgh...
Read moreI recently stumbled upon a hidden gem in Edinburgh (turbo burrito) – a burrito place that completely exceeded my expectations! I made my own African-style burrito, and it was genuinely one of the best burritos I've ever had. The flavours were incredible, and it's definitely the best burrito I've had in Edinburgh. The owner was also nice enough to give me a free drink as well. The place had a great vibe, the prices were reasonable, and the portions were huge. If you're looking for a delicious and satisfying meal, this is the place, going back to have another...
